scottyboy
You've answered another question I was going to ask regarding drums. I'm shit at drums though, can it generate beats for you if you pick a time sig and tempo? Drums probably won't feature much in the music I'm planning on making but it's something I'm keen to include in the future. I use Toontrack's EZDrummer to play the drums for me. You pick a time signature and can preview dozens of grooves at whatever tempo is selected in the DAW, and can tinker with whether the hi-hats are open or closed, 8th or 16th notes etc. It also works as a manually programmable drum machine (with a more user friendly drum-kit visual that you can "play" with the mouse cursor. It's not free but I don't think it was that expensive. IIRC it's basically an entry-level version of the better known kits like superior drummer, drumkit from hell and so on.
