Camerata Scotland, the pre-professional chamber orchestra of The National Youth Orchestras of Scotland (NYOS), performs a wide range of masterpieces, conducted by William Conway and joined by violin soloist Kai Gleussten, playing Mendelssohns Violin Concerto.

Mendelssohnss contemporary composer, conductor and violinist Joseph Joachim said about the piece: "The Germans have four violin concertos. The greatest is Beethoven's. The one by Brahms comes close to Beethoven's in its seriousness. Max Bruch wrote the richest and most enchanting of the four. But the dearest of them all, the heart's jewel, is Mendelssohns."

Other concerts in Camerata's tour include:

17th August 2005 St Andrew's in the Square, Glasgow

Tickets from NYOS 0141 332 8311

19th August 2005 Albert Halls, Stirling

Box Office 01786 473544

The tour is to be dedicated to the memory of Richard Pattinson, a former member of Camerata and Nyos, who tragically died last month, age 25.
