  1. The sun tan is surely not linked to Download? The weather looked pretty awful on the site camera. I was regretting not going but seeing the weather made me a little less sad! Also my friend posted this. The hurricane a few years ago and now submerged tents.... fun times ahead at download! At least in 2010 when I went it was only raining on the last day.

The weather was a bit duff on Friday, some rain. Made the fields a bit muddy - but it was bright on Saturday and Sunday it was pretty much blue skys. Not good when you are standing in one place with the sun just tracking above you.

  2. Stamp Duty.

The government want to take how much?!

Wonder if i can ask for a waiver because I need to move, because my flat isn't suited for having a baby. Tell them the benefits my child will bring in terms of tax revenue. And the fact we aren't entitled to child benefits.

  3. Repayment of creditors isn't about who's owed the most, there's a prescribed order of repayment which has tp be met.

The insolvancy act was updated in 2003, making it more simple. The priorities are : Secured Creditors, Preferential Creditors, Banks, Unsecured Creditors. I would imagine he would be an unsecured creditor, and that would put him at the bottom of the chart right after banks. He may be a preferential creditor, but he would have to see what the terms and conditions of the investment is.

Now this is a moot point if the company doesn't go into administration. But the judgement has to be made on what the chances of that happening are. But because the company isn't publicly traded they don't have to make their accounts public, so you can't really delve into them to see what the fixed assets are and all that accountancy jazz.

He might have the investment taken off his wage before tax, which would help the companys tax bills. It would also help ca-gere, as it ultimatly reduces how much tax he would pay. As he is getting this investment "free" of tax (so to speak).

  4. From the sounds of what ca_gere is saying, the company doesn't appear to have public traded shares. As he mentioned if they go for IPO he can cash in and get shares.

I don't know if this is an under the table way for the company to make some money, without having to go to the banks who would require repayments.

If he isn't getting anything in return for his investment, I wouldn't recomend it - as if the company goes bust you can bet he is going to be the last one to be repayed by the creditors, as they go for the companies owed the most first.

  5. Had a look ant the menu looks pretty good. They don't have desserts on there other than lunch menu though. Just says 'check the boards in the restaurant'. I think we may end up going there. Cheers for the tip! Think it will have to be the early evening menu though. £35 for 2 courses is a bit much after drinks until I get back from my break from work. I've been to The Kitchin in Edinburgh and that is a michelin star restaurant and you can get 2 courses there for around the £50 mark in the evening. (I went for lunch though.... was only £26 for the 3 course set menu!).

La Stella are also in the spree book.

  6. Can anyone recommend a restaurant with 'good desserts'? Anniversary on Wednesday and this was my gf's main stipulation it seems.

I want to go to Yorokobi though so may depend on whether I can convince her that mochi is good or not. Also I am guessing their set menu is price per person? That is usually the way but I added it all up and it is essentially the same price as ordering everything separately which seems a bit strange.

La Stella has pretty good desserts. Check their menu online.

comedy option - take her to Millars of Midmar and give her free reign over the Sweet Trolley they have there. I used to work there. It was ace-ic at the end of the day getting all the left0ver scones to take home.

  7. Pet hate: sun burn. What a cunting thing it is. I'm still not used to the sensation of a warm sun this year and paid for it dearly today.

I got sunburn on my feet when I was in Tunisa a month ago, you can still see the tan lines of where it burnt around my flip-flops.

  8. Have you taken the label off?

On a similar note, I went snowboarding last year with new goggles. Complained about them the whole trip, and on the second last day realised there was a clear plastic scratch-protector that should have been removed.

    They were excellent after that.

  9. There was a quote in the paper today claiming that the crack wouldn't have been picked up during routine maintenance. That's pretty worrying.

I think bond and bristows probably have a similar amount of daily flights however the size of their fleet might be different.

It probably wouldn't have been picked up in maintenance, but there are vibration probes around the shaft. They identified an increase in vibration - so I guess this is how they would have normally spotted it if it got more extreme?
