MIXTAPE PRESENTS FUNK DVOID (Southern Fried Records) w/ GILES WALKER (Hush Hush) // FRIDAY 16th SEPTEMBER// SNAFU Lars Sandberg AKA Funk D'Void, is a DJ and producer who has been at the forefront of the global electronic music scene since the mid-90s. He started Djing at around the tender age of 15, running two under-18 clubs himself a perfect start to his career. Knowing his vocation to music from an early age after being brought up by his professional pianist mother, Lars never had any doubt as to where his future would lie... which is good for us, because it means we have a top quality booking for you dance hungry folks a couple years down the line. Much in demand DJ and critically acclaimed producer, his Djing style is everything you expect a true music lovers taste to be: he is comfortable and adept at moving any dancefloor, the proof being that he is one of the busiest Djs on the circuit today, and has been for the last decade. You only have to ask todays heroes and legends what they think of the talented Scotsman: Amid the sea of average disc jockeys there are a few gems that really do deserve your attention, Lars Sandberg ( Funk DVoid ) is one one of them , consistently breaking new ground and delivering quality, the man is a legend in my house, and should be in yours NICK WARREN "Lars is phenomenal - an incredibly sound DJ, as well as being one of my favourite producers of the last ten years." 3. THE DEEP END PRESENTS STREETLIFE DJS ( AND HARRI // SATURDAY 18TH JULY // SNAFU Stewart Rowell & Louis Gaston are otherwise known as the Streetlife DJs. They have over 25 years turntablist experience between them, and a blatant disregard for music genres! OK lets explainif you think Soulwax meets Coldcut meets Sasha & Digweed youre in the right ball parkif there is such a place! There really isnt a musical boundary that the Streetlife DJs wont cross. A Streetlife set is like one big lesson in the history of dance musicin one night! Isnt that the best history lesson youre ever likely to have? DJ Magazine quoted We love these guys because they rock. The UKs very own 2ManyDJs! Harri is synonymous with Glasgows vibrant House scene. His record breaking 20 year residency at the Sub Club was the foundation for its growth into one of the UKs premier dance venues. In the early 90s Harri teamed up with Stuart McMillan and Orde Meikle of Slam and Soma. For four years they spun their sonic magic at the Sub Club on Saturdays. However, the departure of Slam from the Sub saw Harri join forces with one of Glasgows most talented DJs, Domenic Cappello (20/20 vision, 7th sign, Soma). Together they created Subculture, the Subs flagship Saturday night. 14 years on, Subculture with Harri and Domenic at the helm, is possibly the longest running weekly House night in the U.K. Subculture has hosted the cream of international House DJs and has a reputation as one of the best and most credible House nights in the world. Snafu is incredibly happy to be able to have both these amazing acts perform in the club as part of our collaboration with Wizard festival. We anticipate high demand for this event, I mean, who in their right mind wouldnt come, so hop on the site and grab a ticket. Much love. 4. MIXTAPE PRESENTS JAPANESE POPSTARS WITH GILES WALKER // FRIDAY 28TH AUGUST// SNAFU Widely hailed as the act of the moment, the Japanese Popstars have been making waves on the scene. Their raw energy and excellent songcrafting has ensured that these Northern Irish (Not Japanese, lamentably) chaps are riding high. They boys are performing live at Wizard Festival during the day, but through sheer persistence we have managed to persuade them to come along to the club after and let all you lovely folk who cant make it out to Wizard see what all the fuss is about. Heres what their myspace has to say, lest you require any further convincing: The Japanese Popstars are an electronic act from Derry, Northern Ireland, consisting of Declan McLaughlin aka Decky Hedrock, Gary Curran, and Gareth Donoghue. They are signed to bespoke indie label, Gung-Ho Recordings (Gus Gus, Zoo Brazil) in the UK, and Beatink in Japan (home of Underworld, Aphex Twin, and Cinematic Orchestra). Founded after a number of drunken discussions and attendance of a number of large music festivals, such as Oxegen and Glastonbury, the three musicians collaborated. Each member has his own alias. The act was nominated for "Best House DJs" at the 2006 World Urban Music Awards, "Best Live Performance" at the 2007 Northern Ireland Music Awards and won "Best Live Act" at the 2008 Irish Music Awards. They were also recently voted "Best Breakthrough Producers" at the DJ Mag Best Of British Awards 2008[citation needed], awarded "No.1 Dance Album" by Hotpress magazine, and won "Best Live Act" and "Best Album" at the 2009 Irish Music Awards.
