also, going off topic, but completely hypothetically - say i wanted to purchase an Epiphone Les Paul standard, would anyone know anyone else who is selling? Again - completely hypothetical!
-
Haha soda, you can have that, im looking at the warpig or the trembucker
-
Soda Jerk, you mentioned the SH-6 - i was watching a video and the Duncan Distortion SH-6 trembucker sounds beasting, is this the same one that you refer to?
-
Money isnt a problem, i could buy 3 or 4 bareknuckles if i wanted, but i dont like spending lots of money
Ive read a lot about the warpig since keeno has been telling my about his ibanez, i think these are what im looking for, and 90 sheets isnt bad for something that will probably last a good few years!
i like 100 tonnes of win!

I dont like SDJBs because i owned one in my Jackson RR3 for almost 4 years and got SICK of it, utterly sick of the tone and the sound, so i want something with a different EQ or similar. It would be a better idea to get the dual EMGs and just disconnect the single coil wire, but i cant afford to buy two EMGs AND fit them. And i have a pair of EMGs in my LTD MH so it'd be nice to have different sounding pickups
-
Why do you specifically want passive? EMG's are cheap as chips second hand compared to the top end passives. I've got an RG with 81/85 if you also want to try that. Probably gonna get them changed for seymour duncan blackouts though which are IMO the best active.
because fitting Active pickups is a farce, i have H/S/H - as you probably are aware, and thats a total farce trying to change the whole set up ... at home .
Also, im only changing the bridge one just now, im happy with the neck pickup - the bridge just sounds like mud
thanks for advice though man!
what do you think about a seymour duncan Invader?
-
yeh, ive owned both Passive EMGs and a SDJB and i dont like either one! i could up my budget, but obviously i'd like to not spend too much money!
im interested to try out a Dimarzio, since i was playing a Charvel in RnB and it sounded beasting
-
Im needing to replace the stock Ibanez pickup in my RG1570 and need something with bite, treble, mids and gain.
MUST BE PASSIVE.
James Dron has suggested a few to me, so im looking for Dimarzio, EMG, Bareknuckle or Seymour duncan.
Looking to spend up to £40,
Throw your best at me!

because i cant save up anymore money, the highest amount im looking at is 400, at a push, ive heard that you can get a decent DSL for around 300+ which is quite appealing.
nice....
-
I think his point is that you asked a slightly odd question but still received considered advice from people with a wealth of experience, advice you then took while pretending said advice was no use.
Read back through your own posts - they're a litany of questions about how to fix/upgrade/mod/improve your gear. If you just listened to the reams of sensible advice you have received from experienced musicians, your next thread might be a link to your music rather than yet another problem with your set up.
i fail to see a place where i have said that the advice was no use, at what point have i said that i did not want a marshall?
i think this whole post actually proves my point about aberdeen music forum in general. You get the odd guy who is quite nice, then everyone else is a dick, thinking that they know it all, trying to be condescending and saying that their view is the only view...
im thankful for the help that i got, because that is what i was looking for, but Alkaline & co, grow up.
-
The point being they were more than relevant to your end decision...
aaand.....?
if anything, its kudos to me for taking their suggestions...
nice one.
-
You're an insufferable idiot.
and why is that? they mentioned marshalls countless times, your point?
-
ill clear some things up, i ALREADY HAVE a 4x12 cabinet, which is fine, currently i have a 75 watt line 6 head, which , as everyone is aware, is shit. ChrisB has offered me a nice DSL 50 with modded E34L tubes, thank you all for your *kind* advice, but i think Chris might have just answered this post with something more than relevant.
Thanks to those of you who were helpful
-
im not really keen on the combo aspect though
-
Really not sure why you are so against saving up for something that will actually suit your needs than just buying the cheapest valve amp possible for the sake of having one. It's mental. You'll realise it's guff and sell it on for less than you bought it, and then you'll be back to square one.
because i cant save up anymore money, the highest amount im looking at is 400, at a push, ive heard that you can get a decent DSL for around 300+ which is quite appealing. And i like the sound of the Peavey 6505 112, but im not sure where to look for that, my other guitarist has the 6505 head, and that was about 1050, i wont be using the speaker if i get a combo since i already have a 4x12, but will the tone be affected?
-
There are quite a few decent small tube amps in that price range but for hard rock/metal you will need dirt pedals/boosts or whatever.
i mean, for example the peavey valveking (i dont want this) but its a perfect example, lower in price range, but apparently they are built to last, yada yada
-
im looking to buy a decent tube amp for metal/hard rock for around 300. Im not going to "save up and get a better one" blah blah, i need a tube amp and ill have a budget of 300 in the next month or so any ideas?
-
