P.M.'d..... Smiddy Jam is on sunday:-)

Drummer Chris has legit Elvis hair. D.J. Fontana, last time I saw him on TV, was sporting an outrageous syrup............

Anyone got a Casino or Sorrento for sale? A Peerless Songbird would be just as good.
-
What a shame............. I've been listening to- and latterly playing the guys songs, my whole life.
Wonderful, laid back delivery, killer guitar tone, widely influential. A huge loss.

The guard looks like chocolate. It's pretty grim.
The body is mint though. Looks like it's been tied to the back of a car and dragged down a motorway, and then set on fire.
Leather pickguards are sadly fashionable amongst the dressier country players...........
Pinecasters are the business, though. Some of the stuff coming out of old barns and such is very dry and dense- popular with builders like Ron Kirn, from Florida. There's a very long history of making Tele bodies out of pine (and of putting Bigsby Trems on them).

This is essentially the same amp as the Champ 600...................

Freddie King- 'Live at the Electric Ballroom, 1974'
Susan Tedeschi- 'Just won't burn' (with Sean Costello on guitar)
Gotta love the internet. Try buying Freddie King albums when he was making them? What a performance that was!

oops, missed the bus, was going to recommend a fender champ as well, single channel valve driven awesomeness!
I think Fender might have discontinued them. Shouldn't be expensive, second hand- and highly moddable, if that's your thing.

My intonation is fine... I was just going to cut my 3 saddle bridge down to size. However, I've decided against hacking the pickup cavity out so will probably just get a little 59 or something similar for the bridge to save hassle. Now, to find a multimeter to figure out which kind of bare knuckle I'll be removing/selling to pay for it!
Thanks for the input though, lads. Just another hair brain scheme. The cost of getting new WR's from the creamery is the main setback to be honest.
Cheers!
Probably a wise move. There are loads of interesting Tele bridge pickups to look at- but only a couple of decent (and stupidly expensive) WRHB sized options out there.

Champ 600? Way loud for 3am.......

The best thing you can buy before any guitar upgrades or parts is this Book....
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Make-Your-Electric-Guitar-Great/dp/0879309989/ref=dp_ob_title_bk
Then learn how to set up the guitars action, then some soldering skills to upgrade pickups and fix switches/pots, etc.
Great book..............

Collected a couple of amps from Dennis today- and asked him if the Aberdeen Music forum rumour was true...... that he was winding down.
Relax.... he's still going strong and has no intention of giving it up.
He did mention that he no longer works on keyboards or solid state amps. Judging by the amount of classic, tube driven hardware scattered around his workshop, I doubt he needs the aggravation of an MG15 or Cube.
Yes, a local guy is/would be handy- but Dennis is the Daddy....... and his work is worth the geographical trouble.

If you are a Blues guy, you owe it to yourself to learn slide.

Leave the guitar alone...... change yourself into a slide player

There will always be a market for 4 grand Martins, Custom Shop Fenders and exotic hardwood delicacies, from many marques. Very lovely- but not necessary, for the purposes of self expression, performance and paying the bills.
In the mists of history, when I was a teenager, cheap guitars were often literally unplayable- but this hasn't been the case for decades. Please post examples of inexpensive instruments, which have stood the test of time and maybe been gigged extensively.

Vintage wound pickups are best in a Casino... but the Epi ones are way too hot. You might want to unwind them yourself?

These are pretty good, if you're on a budget.
I recommend Gibsons, if you aren't- or Lollars, if you're spending someone else's money

Thanks, i was thinking about the mustang but never had tried them ill give it a look, ive never heard of the yamaha ill look into that too. It dont have to be a modeling amp could just have clean and over drive i dont mind but thanks ill definately look into both
If you just want a practice sized amp, a Champ 600 and a boost pedal would come in under budget and give you loads of creamy Fender tone.............
Since you've ruled some brands out- and if you're wanting more volume- I'd give a hard look at the Mustangs.
-
no i just hate them all toghether. Too electronicy unlike most modeling amps where its like an actuall pedal or amp effect
You know Roland is the parent company of Boss, the pedal manufacturers?
Let us know what types of music you're playing. It would help in recommending something you'll find useful.

Please tell us the very best instrument you have ever played or (if you were lucky) owned. It doesn't have to be a prestige name or stratospheric price tag- a little explanation might be helpful. Playability, build quality, finish, sound........ give us the story.
