  1. Riddick

Riddick gets stranded on a planet and has to attract the attentions of bounty hunters to try and escape. They all end up having to work together to survive a common enemy. So basically a rehash of 'Pitch Black' but not nearly as good.

    The Bank Job

Jason Statham leads a group of small time crooks to steal from a bank vault but its really an Establishment driven ploy to retrieve some photos of a Royal up to mischief that a crook has stashed there. Actually not too bad in a Brit film kind of way.

    7/10

    Rob Roy

Liam Neeson plays Rob Roy McGregor trying to evade Tim Roth as a foppish English baddie. Kind of over looked due to popularity of 'Braveheart' which was released around same time but its a decent film.

  2. Im not fussed either way as I'm not a Woody Allen buff. Actually obviously I don't want the lass to have been molested, that sounded bad. But that Daily Beast article I thought laid out some good logic.

Mia Farrow seems like a total cunt. Hinting that her son may be Sinatra's? Would that be because he now looks the spit image of young Sinatra? Im sure Frank's widow must be overjoyed that her late husband was shagging his ex.

  3. I've seen loads of mentions of it one message boards and some in the papers but it's only come up twice on my facebook feed. One was a video someone who thinks the idea is stupid did as a piss take after being nominated and the other was a link to a guy in South Africa who wanted to change the challenges from drinking to giving food to the homeless. Do other people really have their newsfeeds dominated by their mates downing bottles of vodka?

I had a mate post to say he would not be taking part and he got pelters from a load of folk about being a stick in the mud etc. A grown woman in her 40's started babbling about how there are always stupid people who take things too far, like some people drive irresponsibly, so why not let people have their fun? Anyone saying neknomination should stop is just jumping on the bandwagon. Ironic much? I have a few folk now nominating to donate to food banks and other things of that nature. Which is fine, but I find it weird that there has to be a counter to stupidity, or being generous, naivety.

  4. They are a band for people who don't really like music. Saying that though, I bet there are plenty of folk on here who have a couple of their albums, I know I've got 2 or 3 and I have no fucking idea why. Bass funk aimless shirtless wank. Californication was mastered by a deaf cunt as well.

Now Jan, dont be that guy, we all have skeletons in our musical closet. I once bought a Smashing Pumpkins album for fucks sake.

On the Chili Peppers, I still think 'Blood Sugar Sex Magik' is a decent album (though of its time). 'Californication' and 'By the Way' had some OK songs but everything I have heard by them since has been horrible. I was hopelessly turned off them after going to see them at Murrayfield circa BtW, Kiedis was an insufferable cunt.

I rewatched 'Point Break' the other week, seeing him get shot in the foot is always a good moment.

  5. Im finding it a strange occurence because I was completely unaware of his past struggle with addiction and so it came as a surprise when the circumstances became known. Im maybe a terrible person but my first thought was some sort of weight related heart failure given he was a bigger lad. I cant say I rushed out to see a film because he was in it but I cant think of any film that was made worse by his being in it, he was a great actor but one of those with a relatively low key presence.

With Amy Winehouse it seemed inevitable she would be pegging it due to substance abuse eventually. I still think that was a real wasted talent even if she wasnt regarded in the same way as someone like Cobain.

As others said I think its harder to relate to a random unknown.

  6. I'll admit I didn't listen initially because you guys cite a particular vein of punk as an influence that has just never appealed but I gave them a go....I liked them much more than the stuff you posted previously, the riffs are great and in places reminds me of something from Offspring' 'Smash' album, so thats good, its one of my favourite albums. I didn't find the vocals too bad or flat tbh but they were best on 'Please Don't Jump' I would say, kind of reminiscent of SLF and more raspy throughout, the other songs kind of veered between raspy and clean and it was more distracting. I think something needs beefed up for me, more thick bass tone and possibly something to really make the guitar go yaaaaargh. Based on this I would certainly give you guys a try live now.

As for the Das tracks they are decent, I really liked 'Sex Cauldron', the opening sounds like something off Dinosaur Jr's 'Where You Been' album. I sometimes struggle with the vocal style a wee bit, I don't want to sound critical but the lad has a real manly rock voice which I sometimes think is too much for this style of music and could maybe be held back a bit, a la the recent 'Molly's Lips' cover. I like Claire's girly backing vocals too.

Is it possible to still get hold of a copy of the last Das EP? I went to listen to mine earlier and it somehow got cracked :(
