  1. I tried three gold lace in one of my strats, but the low bass strings were poor on the bridge pickup. I'm very happy with the red Lace bridge pickup though. I've kept the bridge and neck gold lace pickups. Rails are good for bending without losing volume, but I prefer the vintage tone of Alnico 2 magnets. Seymour Duncan SSL-1's are the best I've tried ( as a neck pickup in my Jerry Donahue tele).

  2. Not necessarily low. I already have more amps than I can shake a stick at, so I'm in no desperate need to buy anything, but I wouldn't mind something versatile. A twin, tonemaster or supersonic might be ideal, but aren't they a bit big?

  3. Make sure you get one with a transformer. A DI box without one is a waste of money. I've tried a few and like Behringer DI-100 / GI-100. Passive DI boxes aren't any good for electric guitars cos the impedance is too low.

  4. I've tried loads of tele pickups and think that the right amp settings have a huge part to play in getting the right sound. I have seven teles and find that the denser bodied ones have more I wasn't very keen on the Seymour Duncan lil 59, which I thought sounded a bit thin and definitely didn't do bottom end growl. I like USA standard, Texas Special, Seymour Alnico 2 and Broadcaster pickups best. Haven't tried a hotrails, but I'd like to. Here's a video of one!

  5. Just a thought.. I wonder how many of us are organised enough to have an inventory of our gear. I presume the police would want to know the serial number of anything reported to them as stolen, otherwise it's difficult to positively identify an item. Invisible UV pen marking might be a good idea too.

  6. I never see any adverts here for Country band members. I'm an experienced lead guitarist looking for a position in a Country band. I'll play all kinds of Country from standards to New American. I have all mw own gear and transport.

    Anybody looking to start a band...duo...trio ?

    Hi,

I'm keen on country stuff too. I'm nae as good as Albert Lee or James Burton, but gel with their style of playing. I also do mandolin and bass. Have ample gear and telecasters!

    Alan
