  1. I saw you in the Malt Mill numerous times I think. Didn't Bamboo evolve from the Clunk brothers? As I recall the name Bamboo came about because you played at Caesar's palace when it was called something else exotic, and decorated with er, bamboo? Was that Jambos? God the 80s were shit...

Villa's became Jambo's, which became Caesars Palace.

Yeah, the eighties were shit, but at least signed bands could play well. Since around 93 / 94 the standard of musicians siged to major & Indie labels has been ropey, with barely some Ok songs surfacing.

  2. Saw them live 8 times.

I remember in 85 they played The Palace in bridge place, only about 25 people there, all 25 looking baffled.

This was just around the time "Calling all the heroes" was released, they became very poular after that.

A band I was in in 87 / 88 called Bamboo did a few of their tunes. Aberdonians still looked baffled, coz it wasn't " Eye of the Tiger" or some other pap.

If my memory serves me, we used to do, Calling all the Heroes 12" version, screaming on the beaches, all in red, Kiss like judas, Rosmarie, & dabbled with Old man & the angel, before the bnd split up.

Ah, the memory of playing, Jambo's, the Malt mill, & Videoplex.

  3. August 22nd @ Beach Ballroom

They are supplying it from Atmosphere i think....

thanks for the advice. feel free to put more our way.(about the gig )

Then Beware, because Tijuana Sun played Tiger Tiger recently, the venue hired a PA from Atmosphere, & it resembled the PA which is normally used at the Beach, (4k of Bose), according to the chap on the desk that night.

A terrible sound, & nothing could be done, as it was due to the limitations of the system.

Those Bose speakers sound "Very" tired to me. Radical EQ did virtually nothing.

  4. If I may comment, your Les Paul is the type of gtr I would jump at, as I play a few high end Gibsons . But, currently, I'm VERY low on funds, but something to ponder.

Re "Custom Shop" Fenders, I needed a Fender of sorts, so I recently bought an American vintage Re Issue 62 Custom Telecaster, because I was blown away by the sound, look feel, & attention to detail.

I have a few friends who own Custom shop Fenders, & none of them Impressed me as much as the AVRI.

So, maybe a cost effective solution to your requirement?

Still, I wish I could afford your Les Paul, I love all Mahogany Gibsons.

    Good Luck.

  5. ur gear.

I even like the soft V neck and the vintage narrow frets, if only the finish was nitro. As for the Mexicanaity, Cheech would approve, and thats good enough for a pendejo like me. Ensenada is only half an hour down the road from Corona, Calif. anyway. Gives me an excuse to pimp it up. Speaking of which does anyone have experience with Callaham parts for Strats, they have glowing reviews on some forums. Callaham Vintage Guitars and Parts (Strat Parts)

Check the ABR bridge page for some very interesting facts about Tune-O-Matics being made of crappy Zinc. Reminded me of that dude who used to post here, his main schtick was that Les Pauls had crap tone, and he banged on about it incessantly, he had a crossed out LP as his avatar, well funny.

Callaham Vintage Guitars and Parts (Callaham ABR-1 bridge)

Iv'e twice fitted Callaham Trem blocks & Short arms to Strats Iv'e owned. You wont regret it both tone & feel are greatly Improved.
