  1. No that's right sound quality isn't important when your shelling out 25 an hour?? Say's it all really!
  2. Revelation, a great studio in it's day, and a perfect example where someone had the insight to open a decent studio, only for bands to continue going elsewhere? Doesn't make sense to me??
  3. I stand corrected!! Apologies, but I thought you meant the chap that runs the Moorings??
  4. The track your talking about is actually an instrumental, and not a " Song ". The track is god awful? That's your opinion!! It's ok for you to express your opinion, and slag off my track, but it's not ok for me to express my opinions about some of the studios in Aberdeen?????? Bear in mind that it's an mp3. If you heard the track properly then I'm sure you would agree that the recording quality is excellent, regardless of the fact it's a " Lounge Lite Track! " as you put it. I've produced loads of different genres over the years, from funk to folk, to rock, to string quartets. I can easily send you a showreel CD if you like?
  5. The site moderator you speak of, is biased in all this becuase he's got a boozer to plug, and most of the bands who play there use the existing studios in Aberdeen. We all know he's friends with at least one of the studio owners I mentioned, so naturally he's going to jump to their defence It seems on here you are not allowed to criticise anything about the Aberdeen music scene. Nobody wants to listen, everything is fantastic, the bands are the best, venues/facilities amazing and the whole music scene is buzzing up here. Yeah to the selective few that is !! How wrong you lot are!!
  6. There you go again? I never slated anyone, merely expressed my opinion. Is that a crime? I really do feel sorry for some of the bands who use these studios. Most of them have never been in a professional recording environment, and when they go into a studio with a budget mixing console, and a rack of budget outboard gear, to them it's " The Dogs!! " My studio is offering a serious alternative to existing facilities in Aberdeen at a very reasonable rate. To me it's all about getting the best out of everyone involved during the session, and producing the best work I can. The fact that I can provide that cheaper than most, seems to have hit a nerve with certain individuals on here who are obviously in cahoots with some of the studios I've mentioned. Come on Guys, competition is healthy!!
  7. What did I say about the clique, and being up each others arses? Nuff said !!
  8. Let's be honest here! There are certain individuals on here who will always slate anything new that comes along if they don't like it. I could have a 2,000,000 recording studio, charging 10 an hour, and still the small minded bunch would continue to pay 25 an hour elsewhere. It's always been like that in Aberdeen, and it will never change.
  9. Well Mate, your the one being the dick. In your opinion it's a superb sounding album, regardless of the timescale? That's what some of the posts on this thread were about? Recording over a short timescale! If you have months to spend in the studio, with semi decent gear working on an album, then of course it's going to sound 100 times better that Joe Blogg's demo that he recorded and mixed in 4 hours? Last I heard Nial was co-owner of the studio?
  10. You need to open your eyes Mate, as what I said is very true !!
  11. 1/ How big's the hall you're gonna be using? A: I don't use the hall as such. I use the stage area. I close the heavy curtains on the stage to avoid too much ambience and room sound on the kit. However, I do set up room mics in the hall to get a huge sound when required. 2/ What mics have you got? A: Quite a large selection with some of the usual suspects, SM57', AKG D112, Beyer 201, Sennheiser E 604's. A couple of tasty ones, Coles 4038 ribbons ( x2), Neuman TLM 103. 3/ Any pictures of the actual studio? A Yes!!
  12. Yes people in the same line of work should be friendly, but that has never been the case in Aberdeen. I don't actually have a " Holier Than Thou " attitude. The guy from Oceanrock studios got the same reaction when he started the thread about his facility. Someone new comes along, and straight away he was slated about his studio and his gear etc by the usual so called Big Cheese's on here. So what if I've listed facts about other studios, at the end of the day these facts are true!!
  13. Mate that's not proving a point !! I'm not doubting the fact that the new Pallas album sounds great, but what you've got to remember is that " DUH!! " Nial owns the studio, and they spent months on that album, NOT A COUPLE OF DAYS!!
  14. You shouldn't be running a boozer, your in the wrong game. Have you ever considered doing Stand Up ?
  15. I've looked after my hearing over the years, regardless of the fact I'm a drummer. Somehow my mixes come across very well on most systems, so I must be doing somthing right !!
  16. Well thanks for that !! I've already had two phone calls about the studio this evening since I joined in this thread.
  17. What is it that makes certain musicians from Aberdeen so small minded? Anything new that comes along and upset's the little clique's apple cart is always frowned upon!
  18. Yes, and I've known him for many years, and have actually told him that to his face!!
  19. Before this gets out of hand, I did not slate, slag off, or belittle anyone, or any of the studios I mentioned. All I did was point out facts that have came about through my own, and other peoples experiences in some of these facilities. I was merely expressing my opinions. Saying someone uses drum samples, and that a live room sounds boxy isn't exactly slagging them off???
  20. Oh Please !!! Don't get me started. Is that what you call professional? Give me a break !! The album was recorded at Tom's becuase Jerry is on Tom's label.
  21. Excuse me, But I do actually have quite a large, considerable body of work behind me. I'd like to hear these " High Professional Standard " recordings that you've heard from these studios?
  22. I haven't said any of the studio's in Aberdeen are shit. I mentioned weakness's that some of these facilities have, that was all. And yes I do feel I can offer a better service, and more bang for the buck than my competitors do !
  23. Hi Ya'll, Just thought I'd bring to your attention a new recording facility for local bands and musicians. The web site is very basic, but the idea was just to list some details on the studio etc. Here's a sample track from the studio. Shaker 2am by Ronny W on SoundCloud - Create, record and share your sounds for free And here's the studio details.. The Village Recording Studio
  24. Hi Robert, Yes check this out ! Shaker 2am by Ronny W on SoundCloud - Create, record and share your sounds for free
