  1. Dude she may have not been an inspiration to you, but I'm sure she was an inspiration to others? Each to their own?
  2. Perhaps if you replaced the 5 year old pinstipes, and spent a little bit of time learning how to tune your kit properly, then you wouldn't have to trigger samples??
  3. Can we get one thing straight here. I am not criticising the way any of those guys work. I've actually recorded at The Mill with various bands on numerous occasions over the years, and know Niall very well. See an earlier post by Droid !! You don't need a dedicated studio area to produce a fantastic sound, just a bit of savy!! Your actually missing my point. I said that I wouldn't want to go into any studio with my kit just to end up triggering samples. And no the snare on that track isn't fake. It was a Joe Montineri custom snare drum that I used on that track.
  4. Well for a start, the only thing triggered on the track you mentioned is the bass drum. I used a Fat Kat trigger pedal to trigger a 909 bass drum sample, but all the drums are played live by myself. The second thing is about different genres of music produced by Exile etc. The only genre I see Exile producing is guitar based indie / metal or whatever. Not exactly a wide variety of styles now is it? Triggering drums is quite lazy in my opinion. I for one would not want to go into a studio with 6K worth of drums and cymbals, only for the sounds to be replaced by samples. What would be the point in that? I'd expect the engineer to put in the time and get a sound from the kit. Ok triggering samples is perhaps saving a bit of time in the studio, but nothing beats the sound of a well recorded kit. All it takes is a well tuned kit, and the engineer knowing about proper mic placement etc.
  5. Agreed! You can obtain fantastic results at home with a bit of savy on the general recording process. However when it comes to tracking acoustic instruments, i.e. drums, brass etc you really do need a decent sounding space. No amount of top quality gear can help in that respect. Getting the source sounding right in the first place is the key to producing professional results, and it also makes the mixing process a shitload easier.
  6. I agree in as much that I should have kept my opinions to myself. I have made my peace with certain individuals on here, so I'll leave it at that. I was speaking up for the chap who started the locked thread, as lets be honest here, he was set upon by a pack of wolves just becuse he piped up that he was offering an alternative to other studios. Like some of the other members who contributed to that thread, I myself doubt very much that he could achieve the same audio quality as big London studios with the equipment he has. Putting all that buisness to one side for a moment, my current studio set-up has been tried and tested, and is capable of producing fantastic results. I can provide a quality service at a decent price becuase I don't have that many overheads to worry about. When it comes to recording, the knowledge and experience of the engineer makes a huge difference to the final production.
  7. Try here! Massive range, 25 pages to choose from. Next day delivery!! Home at Studiospares
  8. Electronic dance music isn't really my bag I'm afraid.
  9. Glad your enjoying the show!!
  10. What would be the point, as it will only get slagged off like the other tracks I posted. I've produced quite a bit of acoustic / folk material. I can easily send you a CD if you want to pm me a contact address.
  11. I've already put up 13 tracks?
  12. I was only trying to give you some idea of my background as a musician, nothing to do with my studio.
  13. How's this for a name? Worked on various projects with this chap! Steve Anderson Productions Also played with these guys for 2 years!! Wolfstone - Home
  14. I agree! Just like I should be able to air my views on studios!
  15. Fair enough mate, it's not your cup of tea. One thing I will say is that some of the musicians on that album are world class. The whole concept of the album was based around Status bass guitars. I don't exactly see your band lighting up the charts? Better if you stick to your light weight folk music, real ale, and beards!!
  16. Sure!! Here's an album that I mixed and mastered. Various Artists | What's Your Status? | CD Baby
  17. As a matter of interest, how long have you been playing, and how much studio experience do you have?
  18. Stop being a knob and twisting things around. I never once said that the studios in Aberdeen were shit ? Get your facts right !!
  19. So now your saying that the Aberdeen music scene is all about indie and rock bands? Why don't you just crawl back under the stone you came from you silly little boy!! I'd like to hear your material to see if it's any better? I doubt that very much!!
