Took a friend to Brewdog's Musa in Aberdeen last night. Really great food, terrific steaks but the poor musician doing a solo spot had a diifficult audience. We were the only ones who applauded.
Maybe Brewdog should get their staff to discretely applaud from behind the counter, upstairs etc and get the diners started in appreciating the music. I hate to see a musician's efforts not being recognised.
To be honest - having played there - I don't think it's all that important whether or not people clap in such a restaurant environment. I feel people can enjoy the music without having to make such a direct gesture; the absence of clapping doesn't necessarily indicate the absence of interest or pleasure.
That said, I'm sure your applause was appreciated.

On a seperate note, if you open up a regular saving account and chuck in any amount from like 30-300 a month you get 8% interest after a year. Which is masseev in comparison to other companies.
Yeah that's a lot of interest. Does anyone know what dictates something like that? They're not going to go bust in year two are they..

It can only be better than the instrument shop in Stonehaven...so that's a plus.
The guitars in Celtic Chords are actually pretty good.

the right balance between offering you assistance, and leaving you the fuck alone to drool over shit in peace..
True and nicely put.

Nah not yet; it's kind of gone off the priorities list for the time-being. I considered a second-hand Lowden in Guitar Guitar but it didn't have a pick-up unfortunately. I will definitely return there when desire to buy resurfaces.

Forgot to update this before, but it turns out Guitar Guitar in Glasgow is a spanking good place to play top-end acoustics. There is a big selection of the very best: Martin, Gibson, Lowden, Collings and others. Really friendly staff and a good attitude towards potential buyers.

Happy - Popcorn, Kraftwerk
Sad - gnossienne no.5, Erik Satie (thanks Alan Cynic for reminding)
Angry - Yeah, Usher feat. Lil Jon and Ludacris
Sleepy - An Ending, Brian Eno

It's ace! When are you guys playing next, would love to see you live!
*cough*

i don't get it.
I think it might have something to do with you saying the word 'camden'.

Really enjoyed the gig. I did feel that Wood Pigeon was at his best whilst singing alone and without the band though - how about that encore? Eagleowl were decent and I liked the Boards of Canada feel to a lot of it. Rob St John a little too much the faux-poet for my stomach.

Thanks. Will let you know if anything comes up.

Sounds like CSNY. I like it.
We're both big Neil Young fans so that makes sense. Glad you liked it!

What's your duo called again man?
This Heroic Routine

Oliver Richard is ridiculously talented. He doesn't really play enough around town.
Oh, and Craig Davidson is ace aswell.

Is anyone watching the Ward game? Why can't he hit a first serve?

I can't think of anything that's made me laugh more than Comedy Vehicle has this year. The pair of episodes about Crisps/Charity especially so.
He loved all the different flavours of crisps my Grandad....All the different flavours...all the different...flavours of crisps..
......plain....
I liked the bit about British immigrants too. "Newcanaustralia"

I was really surprised it got a second series.
I loved the first series and this one has been even better but it just seemed so self-indulgent.
Stewart Lee's style is so different from the other comedians who get to appear on TV. It's refreshing but doesn't appeal to the masses.
I'm guessing if you like it you are probably, like me, a long time fan of his. I personally don't think this will win him any new fans as his style will switch a lot of the public off.
I'm not really a long term fan. I only really got into him when the first series of Comedy Vehicle came out. In fact I had a negative opinion prior to this having seen him on panel shows years ago.
The stuff he does about Mock the Week and Russel Howard is great. Glad to see someone mocking the mockers.

What does everyone think of Comedy Vehicle? Best thing on TV at the mo?

I don't know why but this is my favourite part of the Rebecca Black song:
R-B, Rebecca BlackSo chillin in the front seat (In the front seat)
In the back seat (In the back seat)
Im drivin, cruisin (Yeah, yeah)
Fast lanes, switchin lanes
Wit a car up on my side (Woo!)
(Cmon) Passin by is a school bus in front of me
Makes tick tock, tick tock, wanna scream
Check my time, its Friday, its a weekend
We gonna have fun, cmon, cmon, yall
It is fantastically void of substance.

I like the unashamedly leftist feel to this one by James Mcmurtry:

Camphill is an interesting place to look around. Unusual architecture, idealism, back-to-nature feel, attractive foreign students
Rubislaw Den South is stunning, albeit in a completely different way from the above.
Is the Prince of Wales folk night a hidden gem? Or is it simply 'hidden'?

Open Mic at Musa. For an unadvertised night it's often busy with a decent standard of performer.

A decent place to drink after 1am.
