  1. I'd argue that they've been shit ever since Cliff died.

I would agree. He was one bad ass bass player. They seemed more together as a band.

jason Newstead never really caught on. And Justice has a lot of good songs on it, but I think you can hear the differance.

    Peace

  2. Ok, perhaps I should've been clearer. I didn't actually mean you. Im usually pretty direct and would've actually said if i meant you. I just meant that you get people who say similar things to you and you find they are kids ok? I apologise for the misunderstandinmg and I can see why you would've picked it up the way you did.

My favourite record by them is the Black album but I got into them in '88 with AJFA.

To be fair, I'm not sure what relevance the fact that you have met them has on your statement BUT thats amazing that you have. You should tell me more. :)

    Sorry mate,

Jumped the gun a bit. Please accept my appolgie. Being a drummer, I have a shoprt fuse and am a bit not right in the head!!! Back in the 80's they would just hang out in San Fran all the time. I saw them the first time at a cafe called Tommy's Joint. They all sined my shirt, that was the Cliff Burton days. Very nice bunch of guys. I still respect them and hold a place in my heart for them, even if I dont much care for their newer stuff.

    Anyway, happy hollidays to you.

    Peace

  3. Riiiiighhht and the Breeders and the Pixies are soooo much better?? HAHAHAHA! Whatever!

    YOU LOSE!

Threads like this make me chuckle. It's when people say stuff like "Metallica is only good upto Justice!" and you find the person is too young to have been into them around that time or anywhere near that time and got into them through the black album or "Load."

I was 13 when Ride the Lightning came out asshole. They became my favorite band until they relaesed the black album witch was utter shite, but sounds better then their recent stuff. I still have not found a debut album from anyone as powerful and bad ass as Kill'em All. I think you need to check yourself. Have you ever met them? I have on 3 ocasions.

    I'm Out!

Would love too!! Have a three piece power mettle band.

  6. Okay, maybe time has passed by quicker than I thought - it has been a while since the last two "best drummer" posts.

So I apologise, Jager. I've just realised you are a) new to the forum and b) new to the area so fully out of order on my part.

If you forgive me I'll bring

    Matt Cameron (Soundgarden)

    Alex Van Halen (Van Halen)

    Neil Peart (Rush)

    Joey Jordison (Slipknot)

Stephen Morris (Joy Division / New Order)

    to the table.

No worries my friend. Forgive me for the ''sooo cool'' remark.

  7. You know whats REALLY fucking gay. (this will stir up a hornets nest.)

The fact that five years ago EVERY OTHER POST would include Kirk Hammet. Dont ask me why and you know im right BUT he seems to be a really unfashionable name to list now. I bet more of you are influenced by him than you think (especially the guys who have grown up listening to Metallica.)

He is probably my favorite guitarist. Think of some the riffs he has written for Metallica. Think about his solo's. They are amazing. Granted he seems incapable of laying down solos live now and cops out heaps which seems to just be lack or practice.

Think about it though...some of the most memorable solos are his. Such a tasteful player with exactly the right mix of tech and taste whilst creating solos that you look forward to in a song.

    The "The Unforgiven" solo.

    The "Blackened" solo.

All the solos in "Fade To Black"

    The "Creeping Death" solo

    The "Bleeding Me" solo

    The "Welcome Home (Sanitarium)" solo

    The "Struggle within" Solo

    The "Dyers Eve" Solo

    The "The Memory Remains" solo.

There is HEAPS more that are truly great and memorable solos. Much more than any other metal bands leads!

    Have a think...I think you'll agree!

You are right. He does shread.
