  1. Man that is a hard one to answer - lots of reason for different stuff. I really love Tool right now, in fact can't seem to get enough - I saw them live before hearing any of there stuff, it was such an amazing gig I think it boosted them in my mind a lot - but there music (or at least some/most fo it) is unreal - the timing, the structure, layers, the sounds - it really is amazing, totally gives me goosebumps. Totally agree with Eriatarka on the 'lazy' point - ie Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Fever to Tell was an amzing album for me, so raw, I could always visualise Karen going nuts to that dirty sounding guitar - also a moment for goosebumps. My tastes change almost weekly tho, so it's hard to pinpoint 'why' I ever like something - most music I like tends to make me feel some kind of emotion tho - I guess that must be it.
  2. OK Skuzzlebutt, in response: It is indeed - a very good feeling. I'm totally getting the hang of the floater' date=' and the sounds is sooo good. It was about then - and I do realise this. However, I had literally had about 2/3 mins before having it 'Politely mentioned' (yeah!) to me - not very good when your spending a lot of money in one shop - sorry but to me, thats bad service. Now this wouldn't have hugely bothered me, except when I came back over 5-10 mins later, the two 14 year olds were still on the f**king amp!!! So, sorry, but I (the paying customer) gets 3 mins, and they get as long as they like to piss around!! wtf? I don't care - it happened' date=' I was there. I was (in no uncertain terms) told, unless there was an actual defect with the guitar, I would have to pay a £30ph (£30 min) charge for time spent going over anything on the guitar. Fair enough, I spent a lot of money on drums and related products in there when I was younger, and never had any problems. On Saturday I did, the guy who served me must have been 18 with short spiky(ish) black/brown hair, and for me - he has given R&B a really bad rep. Guess so..... The last 2 quotes weren't mine so that'll do for now. In short - I'm not saying R&B is terrible, and no-one has ever had good service there. But reputations are fragile, and R&B have destroyed theirs in my eyes - as it wasn't just this guy, it was the smug looks on most of the staffs faces, the fact that 2 other guys did not intervene on our conversation, if this guy was getting it so wrong - they just ignored it, the fact the guy obviously felt two kids who want to play were more important than a potential customer etc etc. Bruce Millers - none of these problems. Felt great, reassured. confident, happy - I WANTED them to have my business It's all just an opinion tho!!
  3. btw - I normally wouldn't have bought one from them - but they priced matched GAK - that was nearly £50 off, plus some cheap strings, and a general demo on the floating trem (as I've never used one before, slowly getting the hang of it tho). I might block the trem, as I change tuning quite a lot, and it is a nightmare when the trem is floating.
  4. It was Jaime - Really decent guy - think I'm gonna go in and see Billie tonight tho - there some pretty nasty pop and crackle on the volume knob and the pickup switch???? Yikes. Other than that - what a guitar, so hot! This floating trem might make me loose my sanity soon enough tho!!
  5. Well, I did it - I got myself the RG 350 EX (the unchallenged standard in hard and heavy rock guitars!). It's F*****G SWEET!! btw R&B - I can't beleive what a rubbish service they have become. I walked into their shop with a cheque practically written for them: I had a blast on a 370DX - after about 3 mins a little shit came over (staff) and started asking how long I would be as there was a que for the amp (it was two 14 year olds who clearly had no intention of buying). So, now that I felt like a twat on display, I unplugged the guitar and went to have a chat with the guy. After 5 mins he had established that once I'd left the shop I'd get no support with my new £300 purchase (which had parts I am unfamiliar with) unless I payed them more money. He also said how being asked for a little extra support was something 'We haven't ever really been aked before'. So I left, pretty disgused, and went to Bruce Millars - the guy there, was awesome. He was really friendly and chatty, told me it would be no problem to come back into the shop and spend some time being shown how to tune a floating trem, set the action etc. He left me as many guitars as I liked in alittle booth to jam away and told me just to enjoy myself. I did, I left, I read some review on the 350EX, came back and bought it off him. Aaah - that feels better, even tho I'm sure no-one will read this!!
  6. I don't know - they're good at getting me confused tho!! Oh, I'm now looking, and seriously considering buying, wither the RG 350/370 DX. It's lush - anyone got any advice on floating trems tho?
  7. Sweet, cheers all. Yeah I've mainly been looking at Ibanez' with twin humbucklers. First off, I thought the AX 32 / 42 seemed pretty sweet - although the scratchplate looks ****. Spec seemed good tho Then I noticed the IC 200, good price, good specs, nice guitar. And then (in the usual fashion of my budget getting larger and larger the more I look) - I came across the RG 320 FM - which just looks awesome. Gonna have to take a walk into town to try and get a play, but any more advice on pro's/cons of these models that people are aware of, or similar models that are maybe better, would definately be appreciated. Thanks guys, C
  8. Hey - if you need a guitarist (or second guitarist ) I could be interested. Not so much into Punk, but more prog rock and stoner rock - Deftones, Tool, Perfect Circle and the like. Silverchair are also good Let me know if any use?
  9. Hey, I'm just wondering if anyone has any good advice on a good electric guitar for playing the likes of Deftones, Tool, A Perfect Circle etc. Also something that is hopefully less than 300. It's been a long time since I bought any new equipment, and good advice is always helpful! Cheers in advance, C
  10. I'm a 24 year old guitarist who is casually looking for some people to jam with. Been playing acoustic guitar for around 10 years, and been playing electric guitar a lot more in recent years. I am interested both in finding a singer / guitarist, to collaborate on some acoustic style songs, and also a drummer/basist/vocalist to possibly form a band with (or a band lacking a guitarist who have similar tastes). Acoutic influences include Ben Harper, Jack Johnston, Damien Rice, etc. Rock influences include Tool, Deftones, A Perfect Circle, Smashing Pumpkins, Muse etc. PM me if interested in a chat / pint / jam 8)
