  1. I went to see Mario Caribe at the aberdeen jazz festival and the pianist was so mental, he was really giving his piano hell battering it and plucking the strings on the inside etc, really just being a great showman.

A personal favourite though was when i played onstage madly drunk at a gig in stonehaven and knocked over the mics, that sucked.

  2. I use the trial version of "AudioRight Converter" (v2.0) which will happily convert whole songs. Only drawback with it being the trial version is that you can only convert 4 songs simultaneously' date=' but unless you want to convert hundreds of files that isn`t much of a problem. I`d definitely recommend it.[/quote']

I finally downloaded a decent converter and it was audioright. The 4 song at a time converting thing doesnt bother me to be honest it was a great programme and did the job

  3. Fair enough. I like both sides of the output' date=' think it makes albums more special if some effort is put into the packaging as well as the music.[/quote']

of course i agree with your point, i mean id be pretty disappointed if a band i really liked released an album with extremely boring and bland artwork, but the music is my focal point.

  4. when is the gig man is it this friday

not this friday but the next

my mate james morrison is the drummer for livez expired do u like them

Hell yeah we got on real well with those guys' date=' james was really receptive and approachable and so was bob, there guitarist. Damn that guys got some skills! They also have some really great tunes. If you ever see James again tell him we'd definintly be interested in setting up a gig again out in Stonehaven sometime. He can get me at [email']sponge_bean@hotmail.com or www.myspace.com/blackmatteraberdeen.

  5. Your workmate is utterly' date=' utterly wrong. Big acts normally get a great reception here, which is why they keep making the long trip north every time they tour. Even at smaller gigs by new bands on the "toilet circuit" there have been some fantastic responses by Aberdeen crowds. I'd imagine the Bromheads Jacket gig at the Tunnels on Thursday will have a fantastic atmosphere, for example.

Does your workmate go to many gigs in this town?[/quote']

I tend to agree with you here to be honest because he's a bit arrogant in the fact that he doesn't really listen to what he says too much. I generally thought Aberdeen crowds were nice except the odd few that ruin the atmosphere

  6. i like to write about fictional characters and events

i think thats why i like concept albums' date=' the whole story telling thing it gets me

dont take advice from me! my most popular lyric is "you want a frog deep inside you, just sit on a log and spread your legs"[/quote']

have you ever heard coheed and cambrias back catalogue of albums? it's written along with a comic which would be right down your street maybe not musically but the concept would be. I wasnt really into the idea much but i really began to like it check them out

  7. I was discussing the subject of why Aberdeen doesn't get many popular, mainstream artists or groups to the city with a workmate a few weeks ago. The last major hyped up gig that was mainstream would most likely be Pittodrie which proposed a promising future for concerts to be held there. I believed that Aberdeen was a very receptive city as an audience at concerts/gigs etc but my workmate told me that hardly and mainstream bands make the trip to Aberdeen because the Aberdeen crowds are renowned for being a really bad audience and booing etc. To be honest it doesn't bother me that the mainstream artists don't come to Aberdeen but it would however, give the city a boost musically and would give Aberdeen bands more of a chance possibly. Is this true about Aberdeen crowds? What's your thoughts on the general attitudes of the crowds of Aberdeen?

  8. songs can be written about anything. But the best way to write lyrics I personally find, maybe not for yourself, is to draw from a personal experience and give it a punctual twist that only you would understand. You will find it very hard to open up with your lyrics and show people but only you would understand and if people ask you to explain them its up to you. As for the music I find that comes naturally but i hope i could chip in a bit for you there!

  9. i think hes quoting Family Guy

you knowm cos you said DY-NO-MITE!

anyway so what time are the doors for this fucking gig?

yous should play that new song' date=' you know, that Blame one, yeh thats an ace song.[/quote']

the doors open at 7 but from experience at kef the doors may be held because we played there with livez expired and the haze and things ran a ten minutes or so over. Not a big deal though should be cool anyway.

  10. Hey guys

i'm the lead guitarist and vocalist in Black Matter and yes to scottST we are a new band, but we can assure you that we'll put on a good show for you all. I'm fairly new here but i've been scoping the forum out for a while so you'll see more of me (probably begging people to come to gigs but ya know how it is!).

anyway come along to the kef gig it should be a blinder

    austin
