  1. Must say that I have to regard any such story in the NOTW with the utmost suspicion.

I don't expect either party to be squeaky clean but the reputation of that paper goes far before it.

  2. In Barcelona last week at Primavera, we had all been looking at them for two days and saying 'that's fucking disgusting' and 'I'd never eat that' etc but then the drunken hunger kicked in and they started looking pretty tempting.

I'm even more ashamed to say, it wasn't even that bad.

I have this vision of something really foul - like Mark Thatcher at a swingers party, wearing one - Well, you can guess where! o_O

  3. The various disabled badge regs are a nightmare TBH. Never mind that they have had a major overhaul at national and local level in the last few years. I defy anyone to get them all right all the time and although the legislation puts the onus on authorities to use a degree of sensitivy, discretion and plain old common sense, many don't. :(

  4. Another place I was at yesterday was the BA Country Store on the Skene road.

I never realised they keep their christmas grotto and pirate ship thingy set-up all year - Looked fucking creepy in its unlit state, with piles of other stock all about. Wish I'd taken my camera in now.

  5. Even from Maryculter you'd be looking 10-15 mins walk, over the bridge another 10-15 mins, I'd say walking half an hour to destroy something to be an conserted effort!

Dunno. Back in the day, we used to walk/cycle several miles just to climb the fence and explore the place - It sat unused for a few years between completion and opening whillst the then owners sorted out a variety various planning/licencing issues. Turns out the local planners knew them well - as chancers..

Never indulged in any vandalism though. We liked being able to come back, more or less any time. :)

Liked the shooting range in the woods at the back too. We got up to all sorts with the discarded shotgun cartridges we found there. Don't think they would get away with being so sloppy today. o_O

  6. It should be a swimming pool, end of debate, but for the incompetent chiselling crooks that make up the council.

    This, exactly!

However, if it is to be put to another use, this idea seems more attractive than yet more shit flats/unlettable retail.

I remain to be convinced that the scheme won't have a significant amount of this included though. :(

  7. I don't know if this is good or bad:

The perfect snack for chocolate-lovers watching their weight has been released in shops if they can get their hands on it.

Le Whif is a calorie-free chocolate that, instead of eating, is inhaled. But it has already sold out after its launch this week and the team behind it is warning it will take months to meet demand.

Costing 9 for six, Le Whif inhalers are selling for more than double their value on eBay. Each unit has four inhales and several flavours are available. Customers place the gadget in their mouth and press. A fine chocolate powder is sprayed, giving the illusion of eating chocolate.

    Hmm!

  8. I never usually let mine out of my sight, mostly park on the pavement in front of the window wherever I am. If I see a warden then I drive off before they can do anything. On the occasion that it must be stowed out of eyeshot for a while I leave go somewhere very quiet and off the beaten track with lots of nooks and crannies and take my chances.

Yup, similar - Although I have a feeling this idea has a lot more to do with them thinking about extending their ticketing to bikes and we may not be able to bank on doing that for much longer. :(

  9. Now they have their eyes on motorbikes - I've wondered when they would start targeting riders.

BIKERS in Aberdeen were today accused of abusing the system by skipping parking charges in the Granite City.

Officers at Aberdeen City Council have been asked to investigate after it was claimed free parking bays for motorbikes across Aberdeen were not being used.

And a report to the Aberdeen City Councils controlled parking working group said many motorbikes were being left in Aberdeens conventional pay and display parking bays. It said charging was difficult to enforce because there was nowhere secure to put a parking ticket.

Aberdeen City Councils lead councillor for transport, Ron Clark, who is on the committee, said: Some motorcyclists are abusing the system.

If there is a charge for the car park, then they should be paying for it.

  10. They need to do something though don't they?

    Do they?

I'd prefer to see them take-on the issue of corporate tax evasion.

That takes a fucktonne more out of our economy than the entire spectrum of benifit fraud. Many of which are not fraud at all - Remember the DWP include people who are subject to overpayment because of internal fuck-ups in the fraud stats too.
