12 bill? That's hyper low.
It was a small, warm flat & I'd junked the telly & done the basics of power economising.
Quite amazing how much you can save by taking a few basic steps!
Equally, the standards for estimates seem to be based on the family Volt who probably mainline the stuff.
-
also slightly related' date=' remember to double check the meter serial numbers on the bill with what's in your meter box. [/quote']
Very true. Also the actual meter numbers as well. I've had a £270 estimated bill reduced to £12 when they got the actual numbers. Well-worth getting it revised if the bills are a succession of estimates, they will take a reading from you over the phone.

Rather than phoning, you ought to put it on paper as well, keep copies & send it recorded/registered. If you can prove you made reasonable attempts/offered to pay but were ignored. It is unlikley that you will be expected to make back payments.
Also, power/gas companies can be utterly appaling when it comes to managing back payments & initially, they do tend to be utter shits at making unreasonable demands. I went right throught to the debt-collector stage with Scottish Power once, not because I owed them anything but because they credited my payments to the right months in the wrong year. It was literally an "oh, I've just checked your account for 2000 & it seems to be a bit overpayed" moment! If they do get on your bsck, kep calm & keep pushing firmly till you get put through to someone with the authority to make decisions.
If you do want to pay-up tho, they are obliged to offer you terms within your means & at worst, you can insist they take you to court & pay at the court-mandated rate, which is not much. Under Scots law, they more or less have to accept any offer you make them. Equally, if there are any health issues to consider, they are forbidden to cut you off as well.
Don't get a card meter, the rate is unattractive & you can end-up with other problems if you want to change or your housing provider starts to do dodgy franchising deals.

Why did the chippie owner have sand?
An effective method of controlling fat-bsed spills/fires - Gas is unacceptable somewhere where people may be trapped, a blanket is of limited use & water is just not a good idea!

I've a feeling I may turn into a space pixie tho:
And yes, I was at that gig!
-
Yup, other than a chlorine leak at the pool, there was little else on the earlier report.
-
School rector Peter Campbell told the BBC Scotland news website: "The janitor was servicing chemicals in the pool plant and inadvertently put some of one in wrongly. That started producing some chlorine gas.
That was not on the earlier version of the report. Check the update time at the top, 13:04.

This is far too tempting!
Over the years, I've seen HW more times than is physically good for me tho so don't know if I should?
-
Sounds more like a fault/balls-up with the pool-sterilisation system to me. Probably utterly unconnected to pupils.
-
Not that I've got a whole lot of sympathy for daft Neds on scooters, the thought of another 2-wheeled accident isn't that pleasing at all. All this does is make the general perception of anyone else on 2-wheels worse amongst the general population.
Also, buggerit, I must have missed it by minutes. I was down the road a bit whilst it all went-on & yes, I think I saw the aftermath although a lot had been cleaned-up when I passed.

I do so wonder if dozens of religious fanatics come out from their convents and walk the streets with the comedic billboards which read: 'The end is nigh! It's really fucking nigh!'
IIRC, it is now thought that thanks to an error in translation back in medieval times (not that there aren't enough of these already!) - they got the dreaded number wrong! Anyone banging-on about it on 6/6/06 is going to be left with some egg on their face as they would be a few days late!

thains do actually have amazing stovies that are almost but not quite like the stovies my grandma makes. however' date=' they are the best stovies available from a shop. [/quote']
Maybe so but they are still Satans-Squits in a box, compared to my Gran's (& no doubt many other golks Gran's) recipies - yup, in that fine old Scottish tradition, she could & did Stovie just about anything. With plenty of veg in the mix as well. Indeed, her meat-free stovies used to be an absolute favourite of many veggie friends of mine back in the day.
I must look-out her old recipie book sometime- yum!
I will however admit a certain failing for Thain's steak pies when I've got a bit of the munchies. And the mince & mealie pies, 50p for-6 rowies & pancakes etc. Waah, I'm hungry now!

Also, it might well be more focused in Aberdeen alone whilst Glasgow's problems are centered around several different places. Never mind places that are technically in Lanarkshire as well

I'm just wondering which or how many of the various political/interest groups that have run a variety of anti-Moore/his films campaigns in recent years are lining-up behind the scenes to fund the soldier's case?
Someone being used to serve the interests of others anyone?

you sure it wasn't the metz advert with the judder man? he made me feel uneasy!
/x
Do you really want to admit that!
Pussy!

8o note to self: don't piss off pogofish.
I should add, that it is only used for non-offensive/technical/bodging/fishing type purposes!

Yup, other than an awareness thing, I doubt the campaign will have much impact. I doubt this part of the world is where they really mean to target tho?
Those determined to behave maliciously will either ignore it or find another way - I've already heard one guy brag about switching to Nunchucks!
Still, if it cuts down the amount of knives in curculation, I suppose that in itself is OK? Would be a bit pissed if they decided to confiscate my penknife/multitool tho. I use it often.

When I pick up the phone at work and say "Good morning' date=' Jessops Aberdeen, Craig speaking, how can I help?"
And the punter replies "Is that Jessops?"
So I say "yes"
and they then say "In aberdeen?"
[/quote']
I think I may have done just that to you!

Anyone got any background on this festival?
There are already two recent threads about it further down the boards.

What utter tosh.....
I'm sure someone will put me straight if I'm wrong here but I believe pubs make more profit on soft drinks than they do on alchol.....
Then you are simply talking out of your arse!
Yes' date=' they do indeed & that is just another of the just plain daft things about any place so caught-up in the "you gotta have a drink" sort of attitude. Also, as I said earlier, it has not happened here for a while, thankfully.
What are you on about?....i'm refering to outside the venue. If it is outside, then you really do sound a bit too precious by half!

I take it it's 'england are the greatest' related?
Yup, although they are claiming it carries an "ironic" message where they air it in Scotland & Wales.
-
Name and shame
Very tempting but probably unwise. Quite a few of them are now in new hands or management so it would be unfair on those who have shaped-up.

Is anyone actually going to buy a Mars product here again?
