They are gangsta. What's wrong with inter-culture music? Elvis did it, Eminem did it! Why can't little rich kids from Cali or wherever do it! They probably got signed cause one of their dad's is a a&r rep of their record label! I wouldn't buy that shit, but think it's sooo funny and lame that I kinda like it!! Well, mostly cause I'm gangsta! Word.

There's nothing wrong with hardcore. If it's not your cup of tea, don't listen to it. If you aren't into what Aberdeen has to offer, don't go to the gigs. Aberdeen doesn't have a huge hardcore scene unfortunatly, but I'll support the hardcore as much as I can, as it can always use the help, and that's how it can grown, even if it's one person at a time. Hardcore is about having fun and playing and singing about what you believe in. Not every "hardcore" band has to have lead guitar and solos over breakdowns. The term hardcore is over used now, but it still stands for something, and probably always will, as does metal. Hardcore is in the same boat as metal. Hardcore started as something, and is now something different than it was, like metal, look at the 70's stuff, like Sabbath, metal doesn't sound like that no more.
And I think what Honor Over Glory is a good thing, and I'll wear the stuff he has, not cause it's the in thing in hardcore, but because he has some cool designs, just needs to restock more often! If the dude that is making the HOG stuff is using the hardcore scene to promote his merch, then fair dos! Everyone starts somewhere, look at Johnny Cupcakes, he started out as the keyboardist for On Broken Wings, and sold his shirts through touring and word of mouth spread, and now look at him(if you know what Johnny Cupcakes is) he's a multimillionaire having major clothing companies chasing him to buy his franchise, and it all started out as him just selling shirts at his bands shows and from the back of his beat up car.
At the end of the day, music is supposed to be fun. If touring is what you and your bandmates want to do, do it! If playing gigs locally is what you want, do it! If you just like going to gigs, keep going. It's keeps the scene alive.
Anyways, those are some of my opinions on the past 13 pages I just read, and what I wanted to share my opinion.

There are programs out there where you can use real drum beats and that to make drums if you can't find anyone, I use ezDrummer, and it sounds pretty awesome! Good luck!

Just joined the forum and saw this thread...
Im a big Richards fan-have 1 from him and 1 from Jimmy but plan on a fair few more...I read alot of tattoo mags and they speak very highly of him and he is also regularly winning awards despite not attending many conventions himself.
A couple of my friends have a lot of work from Draconian...2 full sleeves, chest piece etc and the results are VERY mixed. Some are very good but some very bad!
Fair enough Richards can be quite grumpy and the studio layout doesnt lend itself well to a warm layout...BUT Id rather sit in silence and come away with a better piece than talk all the way through my session whilst Stix's mum brings me cups of tea and worry about the potential disaster of my tatt!

Just noticed this thread. I have quite a few tattoos and can tell the difference between a quality tattoo and a amateur looking tattoo. Richard produces very very high quality tattoos, oppose to Draconian who's tattoo's don't stand out at all. There's a reason why Richard's tattoos make it in magazines!
Ok, Richards is quite straight up, cold, lifeless and not too cozy to be in, and so I've heard that Draconian serves it's customers better, but are you gonna want to have that comfort for an hour, and a shit tattoo for life, or have a an hour of getting tattooed by someone that won't talk to you much, but puts more concentration into you having a great tattoo(unless it's tribal! hehe)
I now choose to go to a world famous tattoo artist in Copenhagen called Uncle Allan, and get work by him, cause he's rad!
So that's my opinion on this matter. Opinion only.Word.

Is albacore a hard tuna? I see what you're saying about the "core" thing. I don't mind it being used as it kinda helps to describe more than pin point, as there are so many bands now that you can't pin point anymore. Personally I think metalcore has died off, not that I have a problem with metalcore, as I have loved the stuff for years, but how many Killswitchs can there be, even their sound is old now and they practically pioneered it, but they are still good at what they do in my opinion! I'd say the new metalcore is the style of hardcore like The Acacia Strain, Whitechapel, stuff like that. Only my opinion. I just love heavy music....and yes, I like Bleeding Through, just wish they still sound like what they did on Portrait of a Goddess!
Anyways, any luck with this hardcore band?

I have recently bought a Les Paul Studio Body and Neck. I have bought everything for it(ex. humbuckers machine heads etc...). I am pretty much ready to bring it in to the shop to get the humbuckers wired up and all the other little things I would have no idea doing... I am not the most guitar parts wise!
What I am asking is I have been looking into getting some capacitors, but I am not 100% sure with which ones to go for, as every forum I've read says something different about every cap, so I have no clue. I am wondering if you can tell me what the best cap would be for the tone I am going for I guess. I am not too sure what the "vintage" sound is, and really don't know what "brighter" and "darker" sounds mean.(See, I'm not that wise!)
My Les Paul I am hooking up with the Burstbucker Pro Humbuckers on the neck and bridge, along with 250k pots(I'm pretty sure they are 250k!). I play heavier music, mostly hardcore and metalcore(if that still exists..) playing in drop a#(i know i know, but it sounds so heavy!) I still want a nice clean sound when not distorted and dont want a muddy sound when clean and distorted.
I've read about the bumblebees and the vitamin q's and whatnot, but I just can't seem to find anyone that has said what sort of cap is better for which genre..

I've recently thought about building my own Les Paul, although I have no idea where I can buy just a basic neck and body guitar, with no gear attached, probably doesnt even matter if the paint is shit, as I would probably get it painted anyways, well, depending on the color I got and the condition of it. Anwyays, I am just looking for a real Les Paul (dont want a fake) project guitar, so color deosnt matter so much, unless its a cool color and doesnt need to be painted. So if you have one you are thinking of getting rid of one or know of anywhere I can get one from that would be great!!

hello. has anyone got any advice on free drum loop software that i can download from the net? i would like to download a library/plugin more than just use a website that has thousands of individual loops that you have to download individually if you like them.
i might be a little retarded when it comes to this stuff too but this is why im trying to find out i spose. i use cubase to record my stuff and just need drums basically and drum loops are much better and easier than making my own patterns from scratch.

Hey dude, there are quite a few good decent programs out there. Not sure if you download stuff by torrents, but youll get some really decent programs using that, the full ones as well. Getting some magazines such as Computer Music helps a lot as well, as they always come with a dvd loaded with free programs.
There is Fruity Loops, which is probably more for electronic stuff but has some real-ish sounding drums as well. But what I think is the best one out there just now, is ezdrummer, thats what I am using now, and quite a few other of my friends that make music use that as well. All the samples are all actual recordings from a proper drum kit, and once you get the basic ezdrummer program, there are heaps and heaps of add ons for anything you play pretty much, from acoustic drums to rock to metal. The program is used with premade drum tracks, and there are loads, but all you do is drag and drop the beat you want, then you can change it around from there. The program is made by a company called Toontrack, so if you are interested check out their site for the add on that suits you best. Fruity Loops can be used as a seperate program on its own, or through your cubase, but ezdrummer can only be used as a vst through a program, so you can use it through cubase, and even Fruity Loops!

Im lookin to see if anyone is interested in starting a band, or needs a vocalist for a hardcore band. Im somewhat new to Aberdeen(2 years) so I dont really know many people into my kinda music. I work offshore, so i dont really know when i am home and not, so i cant commit to people who are wanting 3 practises a week kinda thing, but if you wanna play music regardless, let me know. My influences are stuff like the acacia strain, bury your dead, emmure, eternal lord, that sorta stuff, just heavy hardcore i guess. Pig squeel shit is cool, like waking the cadaver and despised icon stuff.
