Please join us on Friday 9th August at The Cellar as we welcome the Aberdeen debut of the Edinburgh-based Little Love and the Friendly Vibes and Myles Manley from Sligo, Ireland!
Also including local support from label pals Before Stories and Casper Heyzeus.
Featuring:
- Little Love and The Friendly Vibes (Edinburgh) -
Scotland's most magical quirky popsters!
'We are a five piece Power Pop band formed in the summer of 2011 in Edinburgh. Taking influence from the 80s power pop sounds of The Freshies, The Flatmates, The Sultans of Ping FC and many more bands of a lively spirited nature. Twinned with both boy and girl vocals, a scuzzy mix of guitars and theatrical frolics we always aim to delight and amuse. 2017 has seen the release of 'The Same Only Worse', our brand new album filled with Power Pop goodies.'

We're very pleased to welcome Myles Manley to Aberdeen - a singer/songwriter from Sligo, Ireland.
With an abundance of entertaining and thoughtful music videos to his name, we look forward to a healthy dose of eccentric pop injected into this fine evening with his three-piece band.
'Myles Manley is one of those eccentric geniuses who light up their surroundings.'
Clash Magazine
'an eye and ear for the twisted pop nugget ... adventurous live shows ... audacious ambition ... already showing a very impressive set of heels'

Casper Heyzeus are looking for a bassist. We want someone who is a quick learner and reliable. We practice every Thursday night and are planning to play gigs in and outside of Aberdeen next year.
Most songs we play are tabbed out and have backing tracks to practice along to. We play a few different styles of music, but mostly it revolves around alternative rock.

Ice Cream For Crow Records recently did an interview with NHC Glasgow where they talk about the origins of the label and the artists they work with:

Local music scene coverage in the Evening Express and P&J is now almost nonexistent. Despite the EE sponsoring Eruption BOTB the past couple years, only a handful of articles were posted about it, mainly the final happening and the 2016/2017 winners FaR getting an interview. None of the bands from 2017/2018 got this coverage, so fuck knows why they even sponsored it in the first place.
There used to be a Music section under Lifestyle on their website, but now it's just full of garbage:
https://www.eveningexpress.co.uk/category/lifestyle/
There's been the odd article with Flash's mug in it, although that's usually to do with the Agent of Change principle/venue protection from new builds nearby.

Aberdeen just wants cover bands and tribute acts

Early Fall albums - Live at the Witch Trials and Grotesque (After the Gramme) specifically. Not a huge fan of Dragnet.

We put Romarzs on at a gig in Edinburgh last weekend and they were outstanding. Definitely worth coming along to see them for yourself:

The brainchild of Marty Milne, the ‘band’ formed in late 2005 in Aberdeen, around Nintendo and Commodore sounds augmented by live drummer Adam Florence (now of Randolph’s Leap) and what Milne describes as a “revolving door of keyboard players”.
Previously i.e. over the past dozen years of the combo’s existence, there have been releases on Must Destroy Records (home to The Darkness and Goldie Looking Chain), a split single ‘Twin Chevron Action Flash’ with Data Panik (AKA Bis), followed by the five track ‘First Blood’ EP.
With Florence working with the likes of Post, Citigazi and Sexual Objects, Milne released two albums: 2009’s ‘Kawaii’ for Japanese-based Intec Recordings, followed by ‘World Wide Web’ two years later – aptly an internet-only release
colonopenbracket’s current plan is to release one new single per month and this year will once more return to the stage as a duo.

My football team collectively ditched a trump supporter recently. Every time we’d get drinks after a game he’d manage to wind everyone up - the type of trump guy who thought it was all very funny and he’s ‘just speaking his mind’ - meanwhile there’s a guy at the table who’s family is being deported. Fuck that guy and fuck the twat he supports. Got him the fuck off the email thread.
What does that have to do with Trump? Were they being deported from the US?
QuoteOn the train a while back some guy called another guy a ‘faggot’ and looked at me in a ‘right on brother’ type of way, as if I was gonna smile or something. I really wanted to say something but he was scary looking and I wussed out. It still bugs me that he just got away with it unchecked.
/CSB
Was it because he was gay or just generally called him one?

QuoteThe al-Qaeda leader had a series of animated films on his hard drive including Antz, Cars, Chicken Little and The Three Musketeers.
There were also several YouTube videos, including a viral clip from the UK called "Charlie bit my finger" and videos about crocheting, including one entitled "How to crochet a flower". The role-playing computer game Final Fantasy VII was also on the computer.
