  1. I must purchase them once again.

You might want to think about getting the Region 0 DVD 'Bill Hicks Live : Satirist, Social Critic, Stand-Up Comedian' which contains 'One Night Stand', 'Relentless', 'Revelations' and the 'It's Just a Ride' documentary.

(and if you don't have Sane Man, you should get that too!)

As for the Beatles track, can't say offhand but he used Tomorrow Never Knows at times. Might be the one you're thinking of.

Actually, I've had a thought - the psychedelic music you're thinking of could be the bit that was taken from his film with Kevin Booth, Ninja Batchelor Party, where they're getting wasted. I'm sure that was re-used somewhere, possibly in the It's Just a Ride documentary. Reckon it's originally a Marble Head Johnson track.

  2. Edinburgh Queen's Hall - looks like he's revisiting the venue which hosted his collaborations with Steve Martland in '98 and '99 for the Flux Festivals. If it's anywhere as good as those shows were, this is going to be very special indeed.

I know this is not until November, but I'm finding it very hard not to get excited anyway. Jason did a couple of new songs at the Daniel Johnston show in London a couple of months ago which sounded very promising for the new album.

  3. I'm coming to this discussion rather late, but I became an uncle recently and the baby was a whole 3 months premature. I couldn't believe just how small babies can be, she fitted into the palm of my hand.

Anyway, I just wanted to say that without blood donors, both mother and child would have died, no question. So a big 'Thank you' to all who give blood, and to those who don't (and can) I would appeal to you to think about it.

I was a total wimp when it came to needles, but once you do it it becomes no problem (in my experience, anyway).

  4. Some of the headlines really were genius.

" 'Crazed wolves in store a mistake' admits Mothercare"

I know it's a cliche, but it really did change the way you saw conventional news programmes afterwards.

One of the best things about the DVD is that you get the mini-news trailers, some of which I missed first time around.

"Alf Ramsey's Porn Dungeon! Alf Ramsey's Porn Dungeon! Alf Ramsey's Porn Dungeon! Alf Ramsey's Porn Dungeon! Alf Ramsey's Porn Dungeon!"

Shame Chris Morris has gone off the boil a bit recently, I suspect Armando Iannucci was responsible for much of its greatness.

  5. Pyramid Heid scared the shit out of me.

Yeah, he/it was damn scary in the game, really messed up.

Cheers for the info, I'm really glad that it seems to be decent. I'll have to check it out. I enjoyed most of the games, and playing them with the lights off was terrifying. They always seemed better at doing psychological horror compared to something like Resident Evil - Resi seemed to go more for basic shocks (like zombie dogs jumping through windows) but with Silent Hill it was genuine fear building. For me, anyway.

  6. Sagittarius (November 22 - December 21)

You are optimistic and enthusiastic. You have a reckless tendency to rely on luck since you

have no talent. The majority of Sagittarii are drunks or pot heads.

People laugh at you a lot because you are always getting fucked.

Apart from the first sentence, which is way off the mark, the rest is spookily accurate.

  7. I can't begin to say how excited I am about this, my 'The Man Who Ate The Man' disc has been getting very regular outings for a good while now. Fantastic lineup for the night.

I might be wrong, but isn't this Sonic's first Aberdeen appearance since 1989? Far too long to wait, if you ask me.

A big Thank You to all involved in making this happen.

Edit : And there's a plug for this in today's EE.

  8. For me, it has to be Spacemen 3. Favourite ever band, album (The Perfect Prescription) and song (Walkin' With Jesus). They just talk to me like no other band do, and changed the way I see myself and the world around me. Steeped in musical heritage, and yet also became seminal/influential themselves.
