  1. Whats te chances of em tunring up at ACTH Abdn? Morrissey, Nick Cave & co turn Up At Camden Club |
  2. Even though I haven't been in a long time (party because I aint been in Abdn) still sad to see it go. I still have friends who go to Jungle Nation. Im not personally a fan of Drum n Bass but I appreciate the club night and the effort Tez goes to put on a good night for people who do. Had some great times in there. Esp back in the day when it was Glow/Lava and Andy D was at the booking helm, the place consistently had the some of the most exciting/interesting acts and Djs not just in Adbn but in Scotland. DJ Krush, Grand Master Flash, Muse, Mr Scruff, Public Enemy, We Are Scientists, Africa Bambaataa, Orbital, Franz etc etc... seen em all there. Those days of big name, exciting acts days have been gone for a while but, as mentioned already, it does provide a niche and it's ashame to Aberdeen's already limited interesting venues/nights that another one has gone.
  3. For April we have... Gay Against You; They take everything that's good in life - bleepy arpeggiated music, smudges of neon, fanzines, screeching, keytars, satiny football shorts, songs about unicorns, Adaadat records, cartoon violence, bespectacled geek boys, -mix them together to a lip-smacking cocktail of electronic mental awesomeness! They are probably the only group to have both Terrorizer and Attitude magazines giving them big-ups. Plan B, Dazed & Confused, i-D, Vice and The Guardian are all in the GvsY appreciation society too. www.myspace.com/gayagainstyou Isosceles blend cut-up, catchy, spikey guitar riffs, grove bass, synth samples, pop melody's with tongue-in-cheek lyrics and it sounds ace. These Ggow boys are creating quite a buzz about themselves. They have tunes like 'How About It?' which turns an anti-drugs TV adv on its head to become a hit. And 'Darling Look at Your Hair' discusses in depth the more serious issue of hot girls with shit hair. Having already supported Franz Ferdinand on tour its not long till you'll be hearing ALOT more from these guys. www.myspace.com/isoscelestheband Theatre Fall; The young Inverness boys have fortunatly agreed to come in at short notice and play their great four to the floor, indie-electronica tunes for you peeps. They've supported a whole host of big names such as Calvin Harris, The Fratellis, CORD. And are on the road for bigger things themsleves with the likes of Radio 1, XFM and The Fly giving them their thumbs up to the bands beer spilling, dancing, electrorock sound. www.myspace.com/theaterfall MASH - Producer and DJ extraordinaire. Remixer for the likes of Peaches & Blondie. Favourite of Freaks and Basement Jaxx. Deck sharer with Justin Robertson & Erol Alkan. DJed the world over from Brazil to Paris - New York to Germany - Need we say more... POW! www.myspace.com/djmash Tickets are available from Earl Of Sandwich, One-Up and Ticketweb. (Next ACTH is on Sat, April 26th with South Central (Live!) and Metronomy (also live))
  4. Runner order for bands are 1990s ; 11.15pm ERRORS ; 12.15am ACTH DJs; 1AM-3AM Apologies if this doesn't work out with your night Ross. (Hey, go out with them all for the early part of the night then when there all heading to Espio/Tiger - Do one! And fire down to ACTH) We needed to run it this way for a few reasons. Also think it'll work better to have Errors on last for the more 'club' aspect of the night.
  5. Now that sounds like a plan! How could you fail As far as running orders go we're still sussing it out. But the earliest the Errors will be on is 11.15pm-ish. Hope it works oot.
  6. It is a bit bitchy... but they are, in my opinion, awful! I don't think its sour grapes as I don't believe anyone in any half decent band would want that type of pointless press about how there drummer is still at school! The fact the the EE and the P&J find it worthy to print is quite embarrassing.
  7. HAHAHAHAHAHA Check out the tune Saturtday night !!!!! ....In fact any of them!!! Do it do it do it!!!!!!
  8. Advance tickets available from One-Up and Earl Of Sandwich from tomorrow!
  9. Out of interest, what was discussed at this event? Did Chris Mellor by any chance give an explanation or apologise for his, and the councils, farcical, bizarre and backhand way of dealing with the Lemon Tree closing?
  10. All good. So ppl are aware... Tickets are not available just yet. Should be in One up and Earl of Sandwich by mid week. Will let y'all know.
  11. As long as folk like at least one of the bands we put on we're happy bunnys.
  12. So, we're Back! Took a break for Jan as it's rubbish. To kick off 08 for us we have; 1990s Take two guys from The Yummy Fur (the other two went off to form Franz Ferdinand), one from V-Twin, some guitars, a kit, a bass, a lot of alcohol, a whole load of poppers and leave them in a room. The result? 1990s! Sign them to Rough Trade (probably one of the coolest label ever). Get them to create the ace Cookies album full of indie, pop rock goodness (voted as one of the top 25 albums in 2007 by Rolling Stone), tour the world, become famous and then play in Aberdeen for ACTH - Simple! ERRORS 2008 is going to be a great year for this lot. Having finished off 07 supporting Underworld on their full UK tour, they're now Putting the finishing touches to their much anticipated debut album! Expected later this year on Mogwais uber cool Rock Action Records.Their music is a kind of mash up of elements from new-wave, electro, 90's rave, glitch electronica and acid-house and, in the words of The Guardian, they create "something Pretty damn special and slightly mental". ACTH DJs Well Will and Choaf have been busy rocking the ACTH crownds in London at Camden Barfly, Old Blue Last (Vice magazine), Bloomsbury Ballroom and soon ACTH will be going monthly in Fabric too!! Here's some wise words Will has written for Drowned in Sound, Check it here. Oh and a brand New Mix for Feb 08.Here Sponsored by Attic in the Academy and Earl of Sandwich on da Green.
