  1. yeh well mushies have no doubt been around as long as we have' date=' I just have a problem with the notion that drugs fuel creativity. Not because I don't think drugs can fuel creativtiy, but more because so many people see drug use as a requisite part of being an artist, or that taking drugs somehow makes them a deeper and more interesting person. It's just a big horrible cliche, and what most people don't realise is that the people who are famous for their drug inspired art were intelligent artistic people in the first place.[/quote']

Aye, the Druids were heavily into mushies, as were the Vikings. Beserkers used to get fuelled up on Fly Agaric before going into battle. Basically, use of mushrooms is documented as far back as written history goes.

The rest of what you said is very true.

  2. Be that as it may' date=' the state the scottish games in he'll still rape every other midfielder up here.[/quote']

This is true, but Celtic have enough players who can do that anyway. However, if they want to do anything in Europe, buying players like Keane is the wrong way to go about it.

  3. OK' date=' so some people find him funny.

I don't, and am perfectly within my rights to say so, and to explain why, without being accused of being Mary Whitehouse.

I have no aversion to use of bad language on TV, but to try and suggest that I'm somehow not normal for refusing to find sexist and racist jokes funny is something of a stretch.[/quote']

You're actually very normal for "refusing" to find sexist/ racist jokes funny (insomuch as it's trendy to be like that these days). If you just didn't happen to find them funny, that would be fair enough, but everything you've wrote on this thread reeks of the old high-and-mighty attitude of the PC brigade. Taking a principled stance against a stand-up comedian is ridiculous.

  4. It was a decision was it? "Okay, from this day on - no jokes about women, they're not funny anymore. Lets get Benny Hill off the air, he's warping the minds of Britain's youth."

Considering the fact that Roy Chubby Brown is still doing plenty of gigs, don't you think your statement - "you mean before we decided that being derogatory towards women wasn't funny anymore?" - is actually wrong?

"i take it the same goes for those jokes about wogs and pakis that were such a riot in the 70s?"

Oh, the old racism card. And so soon after I was getting accused of playing the PC card. Nice one, Mrs Whitehouse.

  5. You are, I live in Ayrshire. Tell the truth though, Dundee Utd were playing really well when we put them out in 97 and I really didn't think we'd win against them, so you never know.

However, you can strongly suspect that it's not going to happen. Very strongly. Very, very strongly. In fact, why the hell am I considering going to this game? I don't even like Edinburgh very much.

  6. Yes' date=' let's jump on the old 'political correctness is rubbish' bandwagon.

I'm not saying that we should tiptoe round issues, but being offensive for the sake of being offensive is a pointless pursuit.[/quote']

It's entirely down to political correctness. To put it simply, he's getting attacked for being sexist etc. He wasn't attacked for this before political correctness was big. You work it out.

  7. Soon as Clyde came out I said "That's who Celtic will get".

"And Clyde will be at home to......Celtic". So bloody predictable. And whilst Aberdeen and Dundee Utd get each other, don't forget Hearts and Killie are playing each other (two of the top five teams). Also reckon Motherwell will have a tough match against St Mirren (despite St Mirren getting hammered at the weekend). If it was only one draw it wouldn't matter so much, but it's the fact these dodgy draws come out every single year.

Anyway, I'm going to go to Tynecastle to watch us get put out by Hearts. I'm looking forward to the game, hope it will be a big turn out and it's generally a good place for an away game, but I can't see any chance that we're going to win against them.

  8. Rodney Rude relies on swearing too much from what I've heard, although I've not heard much. Doesn't bother me if jokes are ripped off, it's the way people tell them more than the actual jokes themselves that I find funny. Laughed at loads of horrendous Frank Carson jokes simply because he's good at telling them.

  9. so by your logic you can say whatever you want about any subject as long as people "remember it's a joke"?

Don't be so ridiculous. There's a big difference between the joke above and someone saying "Let's go kill some niggers. Haha, I'm only joking." Just more of this hippy crap about everyone tiptoeing around saying anything that may possibly offend someone. The worst joke on this thread is political correctness.

  10. There was another case involving a kid who was on IRC taking shrooms' date=' and all the people there were egging him on to do crazy shit, he then stabbed himself and ran down the street smashing stuff up, until the cops arrived and shot him dead. The video from inside the cop car was on the net.[/quote']

I can barely focus on the screen when I'm tripping. Are you sure that's all true, because I've never known anyone to do anything really stupid when they're tripping?

  11. Yeah, the moral backbone of the country is collapsing.

In actual fact, I couldn't care less about this. I get annoyed that people get their backs up about this type of subject when really, there are far more important things to discuss that nobody really cares about. Everyone thinks it's great that it's legal for homosexuals to get married, but nobody seems to be fussed that our hospitals are spreading more disease than they're curing or that they're trying to change the law so that rich people in court for fraud get tried by judges they were at Oxford with and not by an open jury.

I don't disagree with the legislation, but it's not really an issue I think merits the press it gets.

  12. I rip off loads of things. My old band tended to steal things nobody had heard, Steve Hillage was always a favourite. My current band really heavily ripped off Pink Floyd on one track but nobody minded. Our singer also rips off a lot of Richard Thompson stuff, again nobody seems to care.
