  1. The Fugitives would be happy to play as an acoustic duo. Sent a PM...
  2. Playing mostly 50's rock'n'roll and 60's and whatever else takes our fancy. Need to gig asap...
  3. I know I should've got my finger out but wasn't expecting to be playing this gig. It's not essential as I can still play without the e string. Will just have to make a few adjustments on a few songs. Would prefer to have it fixed though...
  4. Hi, Can someone point me to someone who can do a quick repair job for me? The bottom e string on my electro acoustic isn't being picked up by the amp so I think it's something to do with the electronics. Ideally I need it done by thursday but if not I'll still need it done eventually..
  5. Hi, Is there a kind soul who would be willing to lend me a reverb pedal for a gig on thursday? And I'll pay you a small fee...
  6. Anyone know if there's anywhere or anyone in or remotely near aberdeen that I would be able to hire a steel drum from? I know you can hire congos from Captain Toms so it just got me wondering...
  7. Coming together nicely. Still looking for a saxophonist and a drummer.
  8. Hi, I'm looking for drummer, bassist, guitarist and any other musician who might fancy getting involved in a couple gigs I'll be organising in the coming months to launch my first solo album. If you play saxophone, harmonica, keyboards, violin, bongos, banjo, trumpet or anything interesting and you fancy a party please be in touch. You can check out a selection of songs at Colin McDonald on MySpace Music - Free Streaming MP3s, Pictures & Music Downloads and I can also send you cd if your still old fashioned like me. Minimal committment required. As long as you've got the confidence, maybe a quick jam before the gigs and then we'll be rockin'n'rollin. Bassist and drummer would require a bit more committment for more rehearsals. Let me know if interested. Cheers Colin McDonald
  9. Anyone looking for a room to rent? There's a room available in the flat I'm staying in bank street. Nice location very near city centre. 340 pcm plus bills. Immediate entry available. Flat is nice, quiet and tidy. Let me know. Cheers Colin
  10. Thanks for the reply guys. Not sure why the player didn't load for you droid. Seems to be working ok when I go on. I know what you mean PVM. It's a disgrace how some folks will try and make money off of naivety. Also things like "send me your tune and I'll give you advice on how to write it better only 30 per tune". It really grates me. Here's a thought the more tunes you write the better they'll get. Aint rocket science.
  11. Hi folks, Ok this one is probably for any producers and DIY musicians. But also for anyone who's interested. Firstly I was wondering if anyone could provide feedback/opinions on a couple of recordings? Four to choose from at Colin McDonald on MySpace Music - Free Streaming MP3s, Pictures & Music Downloads. These were done on a zoom 8-track stand alone recorder. Extremely pleased with the results. The main thing I think could be improved is the brightness of the recordings. Should they be sent to a pro mastering service for this purpose? Or could you research and invest in the equipment that would allow you to do this better yourself? There is a mastering option on the 8-track but it still doesn't do it. I know they can be improved but by how much and is it worth the investment? I guess I should just fire one over and see the impoved results. I've spent quite a lot of time learning the production side of things but don't have access to a professional studio. I'm also very much of the 'quality and creativity is key' school of thought as opposed to the 'you need to spend money on professional/equipment' school of thought.(as I'm sure most musicians and producers are) I'm also curious to know what are the minumim requirements for quality of recording for licencing your songs to films/tv ect? As in, there must be no audible distortion, no audible clicks, ect ect. Is this something where everything can be acheived by a DIY artist or if not what services MUST be provided by a third party? Any related thoughts and opinions much appreciated... Regards Colin Mc

    Keyboard wanted

Way out of my price range I'm afraid. My mate bought a 2nd hand yamaha for 25 and the piano and organs sound just fine. Looking for something under 100 really.
  14. Just bought a bass so might be on a roll. Now looking for a keyboard. Anyone got a half decent one they might want to sell? I'm looking for one with touch sensitive keys and several piano and organ options. A shitload of other sounds would be good to experiment with also. Yamaha would be good.

  17. haha...I can assure ye the thought did cross my mind. Not sure if your style would fit in with the music though. Or would it...maybe you've evolved since last I heard you play...
  18. Hi, any saxophone or trumpet players out there who fancy contributing to my 1st album? I'm just putting the finishing touches to it and there's 2 songs crying out for trumpet parts and a couple of songs where I'd like to try replacing the guitar solos with some wailing sax. It's self produced and I'm recording it in my flat in the city centre. Can send mp3's to give you an idea... Cheers CM
  19. Hi, Looking for guitarist and saxophonist for weddings/functions covers band for fun and money. 50's rock'n'roll, soul/motown, 60's guitar bands etc. PM for details. Cheers
  20. Hi folks, I'm more of a lurker than a poster but was wondering if anyone could offer advice. Basically I've been producing my own demos at home using a zoom 8-track and I'm very happy with some of the results I'm getting. There's only so far I can take it though and so can anyone recommened any recording studios/producers that may be suitable for my style of music? A few demos can be found at Colin Mac on MySpace Music - Free Streaming MP3s, Pictures & Music Downloads . 3 of them are full demos and 'Sweeter than Melody' is just an acoustic and voice. I assume to record this arrangement to professional airplay standard I'd need the services of a professional studio? Or could I possibly take things further myself? Can of worms maybe.... Also are there any local producers who are also instrumentalists? I'm thinking of drums especially. Do any studios offer just the services of a quality engineer as I feel capable of producing my own music and just need someone to offer the expertise to record professional recordings? Advice much appreciated... Regards C

  24. Hi there, I'd be interested if there's a slot available. I've been playing solo on acoustic at the moment and you could consider me a singer/songwriter with blues/folk influences. Let me know. Cheers Colin Colin Mac on MySpace Music - Free Streaming MP3s, Pictures & Music Downloads
