  1. Hi,

I'm wanting to put together a covers band, for a bit of fun.

I've been playing drums for over 20 years (mostly in soul/funk/blues bands of late), and am desperate to get gigging again. Due to other non-musical committments, I'm looking for (at most) one practice per week, and (at most) one gig per month....so might suit someone looking for a side project.

Without being too prescriptive, the style I'm aiming for is rock/hard rock - but specific direction is very much open for debate based on the talents and desires of the people I can attract.

Looking for bass, lead and rhythm guitars and vox.

    PM if interested.

    Cheersy!

    Neil

  2. FFS. This transfer fee nonsense has had my piss at boiling point all fucking day.

I had barely calmed down about the Henderson signing, then Man U splurge a disgusting amount of cash on another unproven kid with potential.

At what point will the Zimbabwe-esque inflation of English footballers become unsustainable?

[ianHolloway]It's just so fucking wrong, it's unbelievable [/ianHolloway].

  3. 20 million is a bit inflated, more likely (if reports are to be believed) to be 13 million + David N'Gog (who Sunderland will want to call 'worth 7 million' so that their fans see them getting '20 million' for the guy).

    Still ridiculous.

Ronaldo....fucking RONALDO, went to Inter from Barcelona for 19.5m in 1997. He was probably the greatest player in the world at the time, and even that fee was obscene! Now just a few years down the road, we've got some nobody moving for the same money.

It's just vulgar as fuck. No wonder the clubs have to shaft the fans with unaffordable ticket prices.

  4. Jordan Henderson to Liverpool for TWENTY FUCKING MILLION?!

I've barely even heard of him. Can someone please enlighten me as to whether he's any good or not.....or is this just another case of a disgustingly bloated transfer fee for a kid with "potential"?

  5. Folks have moved to Newmachar and me old man loves an Indian and a Chinese, any takeaways near them as I've had a drive around and couldn't find f***all??

It's just to save him phoning me to come out everytime the greedy bastard wants a curry!!

There's a curry house at the Meldrum Arms hotel in Oldmeldrum, no idea if it's any good though.....Kintore Tandoori is excellent, but a bit further away.

Zara is to be avoided like the plague. Shite.

  6. I thought that while perhaps his use of language wasn't the clearest, he was basically making the most obvious point ever.

Namely, that "rape" involving an 18 year guy and a 15 year old girl who consents (although doesn't "consent" in the legal sense due to her age), is a lesser crime than where some headcase jumps out of a bush in a park and brutally beats the shit out of and then rapes a women who doesn't consent. Would anyone seriously argue otherwise?

To me that is just fucking obvious. All crimes exist on a spectrum where some are worse than others. By saying that "rape is rape" is like saying that shoplifting and bank robbery are thefts that should be treated the same.......or a man killing a burglar in his own house and the beheading of that woman in Tenerife the other week are murders that should be treated the same. Utter nonsense.

  7. Overall, it's good news about Hartley. He had a few great games, but was ultimately disappointing, his proneness to injury and his dwindling pace being his undoing. I expect he'll be the top wage-earner at the club by some distance...cash which could be put to good use.

The biggest problem about his leaving is the lack of an obvious captain to replace him. None of the current crop appeal.....perhaps Milsom at a push, but Foster would be an awful decision. IMO, it will be one of our summer acquisitions that gets the job.

  8. It's been well that reported about Lennon this year, it seems it's now fine to jump on the bangwagon and hate him too,

Most people are just bitter for the sake of it, without even the slightest thought why they actually have reason to dislike him so much.

Everything he does is under the microscope.

The BBC who seem to have a couple of cameras at each game, must have one dedicated to Lennon to catch his reaction after every decision at a few games including the one after his touchline ban.

I feel it's time for the media to give him a break and stop putting at the head of attention to be shot down.

It's now only being reported that he is getting a difficult time, but I feel the media due to the silly amount of negative coverage they have given him have played a big role in why the hatred towards him is as bad as ever.

As for cupping his ears, that was never clever. However it amazes me that 40,000 people spend the entire game giving dogs abuse and calling him all the names under the sun, he cups his ears and that's fine. He cups his ears and it causes a mahem.

Not to mention a few that felt the need to report it to the police.

    This season has been horrible.

The Old Firm game that ended up in front of Hollyrood, I mean, come on. It was really handbags and everyone reads the papers and believes it was a major right that disgraced the country.

Ever watch a game of rugby? Those guys stamp on each other, punch each other on the blind and major confrontations in loads of games.

That's dismissed as it's a mans game with nothing more made of it.

Some shouting and bawling and it's a national disgrace?

To much this season has been blown out of proportion by the media and the anger has built on much of that.

The media should give Lennon a break?

There are 2 reasons why Lennon has been in the media recently. 1) because terrorist send him bombs and stuff, and 2) because he acts like a moron

Number 1 is in the public interest and simply must be reported on.....the 2nd is Lennon's problem to fix himself

Media intrusion has got fuck all to do with anything.

  9. How is it irrelevant?

I agree that he was stupid to do it because he knew the reaction it would provoke. Okay? I've agreed with that point.

Now - the other point is that the fact that him cupping his ears to the Rangers fans (or Boruc crossing himself, or Novo flashing his arse, or Miller flashing his arse, or Boruc clapping at fans) incites that reaction. There is a real problem that people get themselves that worked up about such an innocuous action. It's a game of football and it should be left within the ground. Getting wound up to boiling point within the ground is stupid enough, but if it was left there and nobody jumped the barrier to have a pop etc. that would be just about okay.

It's irrelevant because you're arguing an idealistic point that has no basis in reality.

We're basically agreeing with one another. The crowd reaction to these actions IS fucking ridiculous, but right or wrong, that is the world we live in and it simply isn't going to change, so we might as well accept it. Might sound defeatist, but this has been the case for decades and there isn't any evidence I've seen to suggest that things are improving on the terraces. If anything, people are more petty, more antagonistic, more tribal than ever.

All players and managers knows this is the case, so frankly, the onus is on them to behave in an anti-inflammatory manner.

Fans will always be fuckwits, and no amount of wishing that they weren't will change it.

  10. Sure it shouldn't....but we're now confusing idealism and realism.

Lennon was an arse to cup his ears at the Rangers fans. Whether it "should" have provoked a reaction or not is irrelevant. The point is that it was always going to provoke a reaction and Lennon knew it, and did it anyway.
