  1. Manic Street Preachers is a great name' date=' it's appropriate and sounds good.

Thrice however, is a fucking awful name. As are the names of 90% of Emo bands, especially the ones that looked like they've been chopped from the middle of a sentence or the one's with Day/Month names like Taking Back Sunday.[/quote']

...agreed. And also any band with a number in the title. Unless the number is relevant to something... which is usually not the case

  2. Since Fopp dont do second hand music' date=' t shirts, vinyl or more obscure Cds et al I doubt they will put One Up out of business. Asda / Tesco / Amazon etc are more likely to put HMV / Virgin / Fopp out of business in the long term because of the intense price competition rather than range / customer service focus.

BTW I wonder how One Up will do when the Cavern vol 2 opens this month?

    Dave[/quote']

    What?! Where?

  3. i will be most disappointed if it is :( idlewild haven't had a single bad album and i will CRY if this one's poor. oh' date=' also noticed that you like muse, radiohead, sonic youth, pixies, placebo, bright eyes, the smiths, pavement & the libertines. how cool :)[/quote']

I also noticed you liked the Moldy Peaches... I was under the impression that I was the only one who knew about them

  4. All prices are standardised accross the whole chain' date=' so they're not undercutting one-up just to get rid of them....Fopp's just cheap for a lot of stuff.

Personally I like the new store - it's much more like the others - spacious and modern. I use Fopp to buy cheap DVD's and books etc but I get most of my stuff on the internet now as well. It's hard to find anything cheaper than it is on Amazon, unless it's in a special promotion ala Fopp's 5, 7 etc. I like OneUp a lot - but i'm going to buy my stuff wherever it's cheapest.[/quote']

Unless you work for Fopp and are trying to undermine us...

I guess what we have here then is the same situation with play.com and amazon.co.uk... Play is better for dvds as is Fopp and Amazon is great for cds. It's a matter of preference really.
