  1. HAHAHA' date=' i just saw the link... clicked on it... WHAM! Onion Terror... good stuff.

I'm guessing you're going to be using this host / location / url all the time, as it's the same one that was saved in my i-tunes from the test broadcast.[/quote']

Do you know how to bookmark the url in itunes? I can get it to play, but no idea how to save or view track titles or anything??

  2. Very sore today.........

Saturday - Alabama 3, Audioslave, Futureheads, Brendan Benson, Super Furries (My highlight of the whole weekend)

Sunday - Eagles of Death Metal, Sons & Daughters, Snoop, Bright Eyes, Malcolm Middleton, Interpol, wee bit of Green Day, Prodigy.

Would have liked to have seen Pete Townshend's little cameo with his bird as well.

  3. What I stated in my post was merely my opinion. Personally' date=' when I give money to charity or a cause I believe in, I do so to help people less fortunate than myself and to create justice n a World full of injustices. Whilst doing so, I never think that I am a great person and I am superior to people who do not give money to charity, but that is just me. If you or any other person feels differently when giving money to charity or good causes that is fine, it is your right to do so.

If the people of Make Poverty History want to get more people involved in their campaign surely there are superior ways to do so than encouraging people to Make History.[/quote']

I'm sure most people think the same way as you, myself included. However, there ARE people who donate to make them feel better about themselves. That is a fact of life. And if utilising a little spin encourages that demographic, then what's the problem?

Out of interest what would your 'superior' ways be?

Not directing this at you personally, but I'm a tad dismayed by the perceived negativity towards a movement that is doing it's damndest to produce positive outcomes.

  4. Another issue that I have with the Make Poverty History campaign is the fact that the words Make History are highlighted in their emblem. Therefore' date=' the organisers of Make Poverty History are more or less saying, Hey, you can make history and change the World. Be Proud of yourself. Am I the only person who finds that distasteful? Surely ending poverty in Africa and in the World should be about helping innocent people who have had to face the utmost difficulties in life, not about massaging ones own ego and thinking, I am a great person etc. It is ridiculous! :swearing:[/quote']

Why should that be seen as a negative issue if it gets people thinking about the campaign, who might not normally have been made aware?

The point is being made and there is an additional bit of positive reinforcement there for good measure.

Don't see a problem with that at all.

  5. I'm pretty disappointed reading this thread, especially if the organisers are talking about losing 10 grand on a charity gig.

As part of a research project I'm doing on charity music events, Stuart has kindly agreed to be interviewed by me, so I'm very much looking forward to hear the outcome of this.

I'll probably be constructing an online questionnaire at some stage over the next couple of months, and will link to it here if anyone is interested enough to take part.

  6. I'm sure if you just marked it "FAO The Manager" or something suitable it'd find it's way to the right person easily enough wouldn't it?

I'm sure it would. But I like to be professional about these things. :D

It's nice to pay attention to detail.

  7. I have it on vinyl...it's a beautiful' date=' wistful album.

    I love it!!!!!!!

Might be persuaded to copy it onto CD, if you don't mind a few crackles, pops etc (it's been 'well-played'!!!).[/quote']

Well that would be mighty gentlemanly of you sir. I would feel guilty too, but seeing as it's not available at all I'd quite happily accept a copy.

  8. Well the reason for that was to offset the costs of taking them up as Keith Chaos is being financially fronted by one guy - very bravely - from his own money' date=' so we had to get the band as cheaply as possible, and with the assistance of Ross and RFR we were able to offset some of our costs when we booked the Bluetones. We were hoping with some of the other acts we got and some we were hoping to get, but pulled out we would have had enough of a draw.

    Cheers

    Stuart[/quote']

Stuart, I totally understand the reasons for doing so, just offering an opinion on why it may not be selling well in Aberdeen.

Would be interesting to know the sales figures for Bluetones at Moshulu like.

  9. Well as Floyd didnt actually split up they're not reforming' date=' they're just playing a gig with an old member guesting, and its not a charity gig persay it's to raise awareness,

    Cheers

    Stuart[/quote']

If the monies raised via the phone lottery goes to the Band Aid trust, then I could argue that it is a charity gig.

But that would be pedantic of me.

    :D

  10. Well im sure that Geldof does want to make money for african charities...

But there is no denying that all the acts are just looking to cash in on good publicity...they all look concerned...but there not...or they would have done their own benifit gigs in the past

Oh yeah, I agree. Everyone comes out looking good. It IS a PR exercise after all. (Not just for the cause, but for the artists also.)

The point I was trying to make is that it's not about putting on a musically great gig, it's about attracting artists with the biggest fan base over the widest demographic base in order to create maximum awareness.

Even if the G8 do not change anything at least awareness has risen, pressure been lobbyed etc.... and that will be deemed a success.
