Baka Beyond play The Lemon Tree on Saturday 12 June
Tickets 9 (6 concessions & regulars)
Doors Open: 9pm
Show Starts: 10pm
Originally inspired by the music of the Baka, hunter-gatherer Pygmies whose music is central to their lives, Baka Beyond has evolved from an album and an idea into a thrillingly dynamic 8-piece band. They formed over a decade ago after English guitarist Martin Cradick travelled to Cameroon to live and play with the Baka after being amazed by their music on a TV documentary and found common ground between their sounds and his own Irish music background. The rhythm and energy of the different cultures combine to create a powerful and spirited live show, creating a feast for the eyes and heart as well as the ears and feet. Rooted in African rhythm and Celtic melody, using instruments native to both genres, Baka Beyond play an energetic music all of their own.

Clinic play The Lemon Tree on Tuesday 27th July
Tickets 7.50 (5 concessions & regulars)
Doors Open: 8pm
Show Starts: 8.30pm
Drawing on a diverse range of musical sources, but paying particular mind to the work of the Velvet Underground and Suicide, Clinic's inventive "cut-up" approach to music provides a welcome relief to the grey mediocrity of the post-millenial independent music scene.
Formed in liverpool in 1997, they signed to Domino records after three independent releases. Their heady mixture of drone-rock, psychedelia, doo-wop and psychobilly has drawn rave reviews for their two albums to date with their greatly anticipated third already nestling snugly in the bomb-bay.

Reggae legends Toots and the Maytals play The Lemon Tree on Thursday 1st July
18 (12 concessions & regulars)
Doors Open: 9:30pm
Show Starts: 10:00pm
Toots Hibbert is one of the true architects of reggae - so much so that "Do the Reggay," a 1968 single with his group, the Maytals, is credited with giving the genre its name. Classic songs written and recorded by Toots and the Maytals such as "Pressure Drop" and "Monkey Man" have been covered by the likes of the Clash and the Specials, and the group was featured in reggae's greatest breakthrough event - "The Harder They Come," the 1972 film that became an international sensation.
The star guests on "True Love" range from legends like Keith Richards, Eric Clapton, and Bonnie Raitt to younger stars including No Doubt, the Roots, and Phish's Trey Anastasio. The caliber of these collaborators reveals the impact that Toots has had on several generations of rockers and rappers, while appearances from reggae icons Bunny Wailer and Marcia Griffiths show the respect granted to the man who might be the music's greatest living vocalist. At the heart of it all is that voice - drenched in soul, rooted in gospel, and still breathtakingly powerful after almost four decades in the spotlight.
