As good as this video is i don't know if it needs posting twice in the same forum.
I actually posted it in the crap rappers thread ages ago as well, i therefore win at internetting again.
You know, you can buy teeshirts of Eli Porter now as well.
Mon the memes!
Well you clearly posted it in the wrong thread then.

Horrible cross between Jordan and Kerry Katona.

This is ancient boy, get off the pedestal, you need to go to the fuckin dental ?( (Me neither) You need to stay in the shade, ain't no wonder why you came out.

Santogold and Crystal Castles are both playing now too.

I never gave any thought to points scoring system and tried to go for actual defensive midfielders and so on. Now I realise that it was an utter waste of time.

I think because he crossed the seal and left the cave thingie. You only live forever if you stayin there after drinking from the Grail.
Thats why the Knight was still alive.
At least thats my theory.
I see, I'd like to hear that direct from Lucas' or Spielberg's mouth...probably not gonna happen though. I thought Blanchett was a pretty uninspiring baddy and the accent was very dodgy. Still I could look at those cheekbones for hours.

I thoroughly enjoyed it although I was disappointed at how weak the plot was given they've had 19 years and have apparently turned down loads of other script for not being good enough. And also (I don't think this should count as a spoiler) why is Henry Jones Snr dead when he drank from the Holy Grail in the Last Crusade? It should have given him everlasting life!

Caribou were great though, I wish their albums sounded like that. Pity the crowd became ridiculously noisy during the quiet number, forget its name
I wish they had sounded more like their albums! I thought they started off great, but when they were at their loudest I just got bored. If they'd been any quieter they would have been drowned out by the chatter though. I know I'm being unrealistic to expect the nuances of the recorded music of course, but I don't really get a visceral thrill from live music.

For some reason I took particular exception to the constant use of the word "fucken" instead of "fucking". Once I realised it was annoying me I couldn't read the book properly because it's used on almost every page.
The main character's "attitude" is layed on rather thick I must say and the characters are all a bit exaggerated, although i think the grotesque nature is intentional. I'm not far enough into to be sure what I make of it yet.

Vernon God Little by DBC Pierre.

Indeed, he was a gent. Strachan was visibly very emotional at the press conference.

Approximate stage times?

There's this and the Sons and Daughters gig, and the Aberdeen game (my interest in that coming as a Celtic fan) and it's also the first night of release for Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull!
I think I'll go for the Pittodrie/Caribou combo though. Indy will have to wait until the earliest possible showing on the friday.

The Go-Between by LP Hartley.

Crev....(don't which of the above spellings to use) were very good. I had to make sure I wasn't just entranced with their use of less common instruments, but they had the songs to back it up. Low Lows were ok but I was a bit tired by the time they were on and their songs were a bit samey to my sleepyhead.

From Celticfc.net:
Newsroom Staff
CELTIC Football Club has received numerous messages of support for Tommy Burns and on behalf of Tommy's family, we thank everyone sincerely for these kind thoughts and best wishes.
Tommy is continuing to receive treatment. Clearly, all right-minded people will understand that the club is not in a position to provide updates in terms of Tommy's condition and once again, we would ask that the privacy of Tommy and his family is fully respected at this time.
Under the Press Complaints Commission Code of Practice, the need to respect an individual's privacy with regards to matters of health is clearly stated and we trust that this will now be the case going forward, in relation to Tommy and his family.

Are the Coal Porters coming back to Aberdeen? I saw them a couple of times at the Lemon Tree....good times.
As usual, most of my listening has been coming from the library, but I did buy the Drift Records compilation at the gig last Thurs.
I'll bet the main reason you like them is the (admittedly quality) pun of a name.

Which bands do you like which are similar to Late of the Pier if you don't mind me asking?

I just finished the Adventures of Tom Sawyer and I'm now reading The Amateur Emigrant by Robert Louis Stevenson.

I'd have to disagree there. I think Charlton Heston was the modern embodiment of a classical liberal. Time and again he challenged the orthodoxy of establishment thinking in order to promote the freedoms denied, or at the very least obstructed, to the common man, and sought to remove himself and those like him from the auspices of an over-regulatory government, while at the same time espousing traditional values and respect for the rule of law.
I'd just like to say at this point, I did not support the standpoint he took in regards to the NRA. I always felt their actions, especially at extremely sensitive points such as Columbine, were ill-judged and insensitive. However, he and his fellow members did have a right to speak up for what they believed in, and while we can condemn the timing and motivation, we can't reasonably deny them the right to do what they did, especially if we hold dear the concepts of freedom of speech and expression. If I were a member of Congress right now I would be voting in favour of much stricter gun control laws, and possibly a constitutional amendment, but anyway, back to the point...
In an era when constructs such as "right" and "left" are becoming increasingly irrelevant, people are going to start finding different ways in which to encapsulate their political modes. The "classical liberal", or the more modern "libertarian" is going to find his or herself increasingly at odds with those still stuck in an absolutist culture of 20th century political polarity, and those who dismiss Heston as a "right wing nutjob" (or whatever adjective/noun they choose) do themselves a disservice by refusing to acknowledge that the terms of engagement in this field have evolved beyond the point that they may have been parsed in initially.
Yeah, just what I said, except i then called him "a nut" myself, but that entirely in jest.

Racism isn't an exclusively right-wing trait. I can think of plenty of examples of racist left-wingers who wanted to maintain the laws on segregation. I think he'd probably be best described as a Classical Liberal.
I never said it was, but classical liberalism really has no place in a discussion about Charles Heston. I think anyone labelling him "right wing" here is doing so because of his NRA involvement and that common perception of "right wing" also includes racist attitudes. He'd best be described as a Gun Nut.

Good actor, but a right wing cunt.
I don't think you could strictly call him "right wing" when he aligned himself with the American civil rights movement.

The Triffids - Treeless Plain

The Triffids - Beautiful and Other Songs
All reissues (well the latter cd is really a compilation), and Domino gave me a free old Bonnie Prince Billy promo.
