wow what gig that was! no but seriously guys the belmont has some really top performers play there and there is never anyone there, so get the finger out and go check it out, its a great atmosphere - the most intimate venue in aberdeen i would have thought, beer is reasonable and your so close to the performers you hardly need a p.a system but the sound quality is fantastic.

yeh i know what u mean, to be honest i don't know one person who owns a legitimate copy of cubase,fruity loops and other such likes they just cost way too much for us poor musicians:(

hammerhead is a great drum machine, so easy to use, but there is a huge amount of freeware music software out there u just need to experiment to find the best one. To be honest i am quite happy with the effects you get in cubase they seem to all do the trick for me. I havn't actually ever tried using fruity loops but i hear its excellent and from the noises you were getting i can see it can be used for all sorts, i might have little look into it, where di u get get your fruity loops from? i presume it is not freeware

Yeah' date=' the sound I was aiming for on that track was more to the higher end of things, although I can see what you mean with the lack of bass. Still, I'm going to be working on stuff throughout the summer, so chances are at some point I'll get a track out with enough bass to kick a speaker in.

haha, that sounds great, i have been working n a lot of solo electronic style stuff, i havn't got round to posting it on myspace or anything as i am incredibly lazy, its a lot more gentle tahn this stuff, out of interest what programmes do you use to get your sounds??, personnally i use a variety of freeware and pirated versions of cubase, cool edit, hammerhead etc.

Anyone else heading down to Glasgow this friday to see the mighty Sigur Ros, I'm heading down friday morning, Catching the Gig friday night, staying in a youth hostel over night then getting the early bus to T in the park Saturday morning, should be fantastic!

goodness, i am mightily impressed with the thickness of the sound in this, really quite reminiscent of very heavy aphex twin or boards of canada, i'm liking it quite a lot, although im sure i have already said on your previous track you posted, i think some diversion to the sound would help it go a long way, did u ever think of adding a bass track? i personnaly think it would help it a lot, having said that this is a very individual approach and its up to you what you want to do with it, but some of the rich noises are incredible, nice work

I personnaly think it is highly important that people sing in a way which best pleases them, if my " natural" voice was not suiting the music i was playing, of course i would probably try and make minor adjustments. Take sigur ros into account, they have there very own made up language which jonsi sings called "hopelandish", it is mainly made up of very icelandic sounding words with long spiraling vowels, but it is beautiful. I know it dosn't really address the whole 80's singing thing you guys were talking about, but i think it shows that you can choose to sing as you wish, its your voice after all

interesting, its a very cool sound, i've been doing some solo stuff using cubase, hammerhead and all the likes as well, i really like the disonant beat u comprise from all the staticy samples it reminds me a bit of aphex twin which is awesome, i would say keep with it, maybe add some mellower sounds, although i do like the harsh tone u need something to juxstapose with it otherwise it does become a bit of an ear bleeder, but i will be interested to see some more of your stuff if u get round to posting it

yeh man i will second that, i'm not a huge beatles fan but some of harriosns solo stuff is amazing, i assume you have heard his film score for " wonderwall", its outstanding

thinking about it i agree with JME in that generally people who are prone to doing shitty things to people on the whole do shitty things to themselves ( drinking/smoking/drug abuse etc.) and in consequence they are more likely to suffer from illness or depression. But i guess this counts as karma as well, i mean does karma have to be on a spiritual level to count?

Or maybe your family's just got crazy mystical revenge powers?

that is a valid point, the old phrase " nice guys finish last " springs to mind, but then again karma can of course take many forms, whose to say that somone who has made there way up in the world through fucking other people over etc. is happy with themself? I mean can someone truly be happy with themself if they have made other peoples lives painful, that in its self is karma no?

jeez, yeh they are extreme cases of karma, quite disturbing how many people who your family didn't get on with died of cancer :s i havn't had anything like that personnally, more like someone really hurts my feelings and i later hear that they have been beat up etc. maybe not very christian of me but makes me feel better when people get whats coming to them.

Who believes/disbelieves in karma, personnaly i find karma very comforting eg. someone is a complete shit to me in any matter of way, i then feel quite content knowing that they will get there come uponce.

But then again you have to think if it is true that people pay for there actions through other actions then what exactly have millions of people done to suffer extreme poverty/illness.

I just think its quite an interesting concept, and in my experience i think it has stopped myself from doing somethings which i thought i would later regret.

anyone else have any viewpoint on the subject?
