  1. I still liked the fridge idea, shame your wife didn't.

Although what do they know about computers, most of them can't even seem to figure out how to post on here

Also should have thought that maybe the wife reads (and occasionally posts on) these forums......

  2. On a related note - can anyone with the knowledge and expertise advise me on where I should go to invest in a basic one or two berth tent that won't break the bank?

If you're just looking for a tent for the weekend, I should still have a two man tent at me Mam's you can borrow if you want to save your pennies. I can have a look next time I'm in Stoney if you want?

  3. i still haven't found my voice but i feel a bit more alive though my whole head now appears to be constructed from snot and i'm coughing up things of a frightening size.....

.....my plan now is to spend the whole weekend in bed and be superhumanly fit for work on monday.

Awesome! Can't wait for the weekend. :p

  4. As for tall buildings, you can apparently get up onto the roof of the tall council (at least i think it's council), near the back of M&S. I'll ask my friend that said you could how!

Not sure about that (if you're meaning St Nicholas House that is). I work on the 13th floor and the only people that've been let out while I've been here - apart from Cooncily maintenance people - were the Location Location Location crew. But I suppose if you asked they might let you.

Lots of people come up to our reception to look out the window, but I think they would be rubbish for taking photos out of as they are absolutley filthy.

  5. I do appreciate the advice and maybe was being slightly defensive in my last post.

It's just coz I slogged my guts out for over a week getting the place like that and it seems it wasn't good enough. That was a horrible week, and the thought of having to do more is not a good one!

  6. As Dave's missus I'm gonna add in my two cents here.

You have to remember that we may have to live in this flat for another 6 months or more - I don't see how day to day life can possibly go on in a show flat for long periods of time!

Yeah the guitars should have been away for the picture, but we need to keep them in the flat as I have band practice. Same goes for some of the other things that have been left.

As Dave said painting the rooms is a huge job that we neither have the time or the money for. And anyway you should have seen the colour of the bedroom when we bought it! Colour doesn't put everyone off.

I think he was looking for more useful criticism not a deconstruction of our lifestyle. One comment was surely enough on this.

While a(nother) revamp and new photos may help, this is not really an option at the moment considering we have just spent money on the current ones. Information and ideas about putting ads in the paper etc was more what we are looking for.

  7. He contacted me a while ago and said, "I'll definately be in touch at the weekend."

Now, that was in late May, if I recall, and whilst I'm not saying he didn't bother his arse, I am curious as to which weekend he meant.

Why don't you just get in touch with him? :p

Anyway this thread appears to have been hijacked. It should be about how ace a drummer Martin is.

    Go Martin yeah (etc.)!

  8. The Music Hall is a shite live music venue full stop. There is no atmosphere whatsoever and the sound is always terrible.

I don't know if that's entirely fair. I agree that Bloc Party didn't have a good sound, and quie often bands sound is kinda 'muddy' but you have to remember that's not what the Music Hall was built for.

If you've ever seen an orchestra or a choir in there with little or no amplification, the sound can be great. Proved at the Guillemots gig when Fyfe did the acoustic encore in the balcony. I thought he was crystal clear and his singing carried really well across the hall.

Yeah it can be a bit shite for bands, but you can't say that about all live music. It's a Concert Hall that was bult in the 1800s, I don't think they catered for amps.

p.s. agree that the coin throwing thing spoiled the whole show.

  9. I went with Admiral last year, as they seemed to be a bit nicer to younger drivers than some of the other companies I looked at. Had 0 no claims bonus and got a pretty good quote. One of the best. When I got it renewed with Admiral this year it was 100 pounds less (because of having 1 years no claims I presume). Which was nice!

  10. the suggestions process has to be from a council member. heather's gonna check out which department of the council is responsible for the ikiosks though as well as making a suggestion. you might be able to get in touch with the department directly(it's probably IT) and get them to stick you on the front page along with granite city guide and creative cultures.

Turns out the Cooncil suggestion thingy has to make a substantial difference in the workplace (i.e. you think of an idea to save the Council money) Bah.

Probably best you get in touch with the E-Government Manager (not IT as it turns out) and plead your case. You can probably do it more eloquently than I can!
