  1. There was a patch on the Yamaha V-Drums that had a blues bassline sequence triggered by the kick pedal. Pretty cool. Jam with it for hours... ...or maybe ten minutes.

And I wondered where David Blaine had gotten to. Anyone else see that. He's a bit shag but it looks like him a little... ...no.

  2. There isn't such a thing as the best mic. They don't work like human ears or capture the sound in the same way.

It all depends on the application, the sound you are after and the money your are willing to spend.

A mic that is yet to fail me is the AKG C414 but it is also about 500 new.

I've own Shure SM57, 58, Sennheiser E604, AKG C1000's amongst others and they all have their strong points but sometimes a mic is inheraitely more usefull and for me the C414 seems to work with everything i've tried it on. Wouldn't sound nice on some (male) voices though.

People say the Shure SM57 is highly versitile and this is true but there usually a better choice for most things, apart from maybe snare drum.

If it's for live on lead vocals. Based upon my experience I prefer Sennheiser E840 or E835 over the Shure SM58, as good as the 58 is I just prefer the sennheiser one and find I use less EQ.

Also, there are things just as important in the signal path as the microphone itself, such as the microphone pre amp and analog to digital converter (if you are recording or using a digital desk).

Just the kind of answer i was looking for. Great.

I used the C414 at college. Would love to get one or a pair but they are very costly as you mentioned.

We have the Sennheiser E604. Very good results.

  3. What is the best microphone you have ever experienced?

Live or Studio. Engineer or Performer.

    What was it used for?

    What was its name?

I got to use a SM57Beta when the old band supported Queen Adreena. I like.

Also for the T.Y.P studio i bought an AKG C1000s. It fries the fish for me. Great mic has cool polar pattern and presence boost adaptors. Ace:up:.

  4. obviously i would pay, im just looking for the best deal i can, you stupid fucking cunt.
:swearing: <-Angry drummer who wants a cheap sampler

Is that really necessary. If you want to try coming to the music studio in Torry i'd like to record you saying that. And if i was a "stupid fucking cunt" i wouldn't be in the position i'm in 2day. What do YOU do that doesn't make YOU a stupid fucking drummercunt?

    Are you in a band?

Have you read the post about FREE recording @ the Torry Youth Project?

RESPECT RECEIVED IS RESPECT GIVEN. Remember this. Don't burn your bridges before you even know what or who they are. Bad move monkeyboy!!

  5. 14th of FEB, SLOT#2 has been taken.

I will update the list of taken dates as soon as i can.

All the other THURSDAYS are free so far. If there is a clash of requests for a certain day i must give on first come first serve basis, but will try and reorganize or suggest other dates. So if your really interested and don't want to miss out, suggest a few THURSDAYS which you or your band could make. Thank Ya!

  6. I does exactly what it says on the tin.

I know i only put this up a little while ago. But we are talking FREE recording. No catches. Organise a THURSDAY with myself. Turn up and record. It doesn't matter what your band records it FREE, FREE, FREE!! Unless everyone on this board is too old. The priority for the recording is 14-26 year olds but blind eyes maybe turned. I could use the experience. 3 track demo could be done in 3 hours...

  7. I have an SP-202. It's worth 90 quid. getting the 4MB Smartmedia card next month. No 404 or 303. But you know beggars cant be choosers. And cheap skating doesnt usually go far. Expect to pay for you sampler. mpc 2500 is 800 pounds+. And the mega MPC 4000 is over a grand(Dr Dre uses this). The cheapest in the range is still around 250-300. If anyone has the sampler your looking for expect to pay. And pay you will.

  8. After some rescheduling at the T.Y.P Music Studio, THURSDAYS have been opened up for FREE recording.

  10. Playing drums... neighbours complaints....

The best thing to do is be grown up and civilised. Ask all your neighbours when they are at work or what time their children are at school/go to bed. This way you dont tread on toes and if they complain outwith these sensible times(during the day until about 6p.m/7p.m), tell them to get a job or join in... Not sure about the law on this one but common sense and understanding will prevail everytime. Peace. C.

  13. the crazy dancing guy that comes out late at night and does a funny walk that looks like he's dancing up and down Union Street. he has a sort of afro going on. know who i mean?

Thats the "Crazy Running Man". He goes about during the day carrying weird stuff. I saw him with a handheld LCD game and then another day he was carrying a street lamp. He should be at the top of the "Most Famous List 2006"
