Drakes looks lovely in summer.
Soon I'll be offline. With an axe. And a plan.

I just bought Homesongs after visiting the guy's website. Sheer genius & I'm rather miffed I won't be able to make it. Have a good one and cheers for the tip.

Hi,
The mix is really quiet - had to chuck the volume on my PC up to the very max to hear. The reverbed guitar sounds nice, and I can hear some nice rich bass backing on this with slow drum rolls, but on its own it doesn't make much sense at the moment - unless I'm missing something that's really low in the mix. Going to have any vocals on top of this?
What do you use to record?
-
Was about to  but HOW MUCH?!
-
Great news! Congrats!
-
How about backward, pitch-shifted guitar?
-
Think it's the luck of the draw with shops like Argos - especially as you can't try before you buy. Mind you, they have that 16-day return policy so you could return a guitar that wasn't suitable. Maybe worth a try?
I've got a Yamaha F-310 and although the action is a bit high on mine, I know other folk who have it perfectly set up and they love it. I get calouses whenever I play, but I still wouldn't swap it for anything - got a great bassy sound too, even with light strings.
http://www.harmony-central.com/Guitar/Data4/Yamaha/F-310-01.html gives more details and a few reviews.
Cost wise, they're around 100 with bag, strap, etc.

You don't have to have choruses....
But yeah, if you want to play around with progressions from verse to chorus - look at scales for change inspiration (no, not kitchen ones). Doesn't have to be uplifting, doesn't even have to change to be honest, just has to sit right with your idea or lyrics.
Good luck. It's all subjective anyway.

True, if your legs are like lead and you couldn't make it into OneUp.... (7.99 from One Up Records)
-
Oh yeah - didn't notice that. It's the acoustic one, although I used it with my electric too - worked fine (think the only difference would be fretboard width?)
-
It's also available at http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/gustav2 for $12.97, if that floats your boat.
-
The Little Kicks - Panic Attack
SIDCA - Angel Wings (their www.sidca.com website is pretty slick too)
there are others that I like to listen to, but these catch my ears straight away...
-
That's a great email.
Recommended listening:
Aforementioned Mr Cynic's album (http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/kitchencynics)
Gustav Bertha's "My Life As A Dog" (http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/gustav2)
Regina Spektor's entire catalogue (http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/spektor3 etc)

Hi Tav,
Indeed! It's the trigger capo: http://www.jimdunlop.com/products/capos/trigger/index.html
99% sure it's the flat version, although looking at the pics there's not much difference.

Originally paid 15 for it last summer. Thought I'd lost it in September after a drunken night at the Lemon Tree. Bought another one for 15. Found the original one under the spare tyre in my car last weekend, therefore selling for 10 ono. It's a Jim Dunlop spring-loaded capo and is in pretty much perfect condition. Black. Sleek. Sexy. You want it!
PM or email if you're interested to arrange pickup or I could post it to you if you Paypal.
Cheers
