Milk Been meaning to watch this for a while, and I wasn't disappointed. Great performance from Sean Penn in the title role. I was disappointed when Mickey Rourke lost out on the best actor Oscar, but having now seen Milk, it was probably the correct decision.
Excellent realistic 70s feel to the way it was shot as well, and made good use of vintage news footage.
I thought this movie was amazing. Really engaging and Penn was superb. I saw it on a crappy small screen on the way to San Francisco and it still blew me away. It was also great to catch a teasing glimpse of the city I was headed to. They captured the feel and atmosphere of the place really well.
I got my copy of "The Life Aquatic" and it was just as good as I remembered. Started watching Superbad and, I have to admit, I wasn't a fan the first time I watched it but most surely am now.

The Life Aquatic is amazing.
I can't wait to see it again. An old friend moved country and took my copy with him so I've finally forked out for another. I really can't wait. Hope it's as entertaining as I remember.
@Del - I thought Sunshine was an utterly breathtaking film right up until the end when they went down the Event Horizon road. Apart from that, stunning to watch and listen to. Would benefit hugely from a good home speaker set up.

I watched "Dead Snow" the other night. An okay pastiche Zombie B Movie. A fair bit of "Shaun of the Dead" going on in it. Not essential.
Tried re-watching Blair Witch. Did not strike up my interest at all and got turned off.
I've "On the Beach" with Gregory Peck and "The Life Aquatic" to look forward to this weekend.

Any chance of some pics?

You do play all your best stuff before anyone turns up. They're my special Stevesie moments.

I actually have a massive soft spot for Nightshift. It is everything you could ever want from an 80's soul classic: "Marvin......(Marvin)....he was a friend of mine.....". Ace 80's production.
Please tell me you're throwing in that National cover in your set?

There was some pretty intense foot tapping last week. Maybe this week, I can get some booty shakin going.
If it decides to hit, I'll bring it down front for the LK set. That would be sexual.

Sorry if I'm being dense, but where?

Last I heard they'd closed down, sadly. Great little shop.
That is a crying shame. It was a lovely shop and they were very helpful too.

Odd Lot antiques down the Adelphi often had some interesting 78's to rake through. It's also worth having a look at the auction house. I used to go fairly regularly and they nearly always had a fair amount up for grabs.

It was a Fender Twin. 1500 of the most amazing clean tone in the world. Its drive channel is nice, not the best though. But Using my Metal Muff through its clean channel gives me goosebumps! This guy ripped off the front grill/mesh managed to rip the left speaker, rip off half the material and covered up the "twin" logo and wrote "WAR" on it in a fender font. But by fuck it still sounded amazing!
HA! You and me both. I'd love to get my hands on a good conidition Fender Twin Silverface.

How's the Broken Records album?

What amp was it?

It's Dinosaur Jr....so you know what to expect...it's not a bad album but not mind blowing. I've only listened once so far so maybe need to give it further attention but I can't say there were any songs that jumped out at me.
Not got all the way through yet but the epic "Plans" jumped out as a tune.

Diebold - Listen To My Heartbeat
Funnily enough, I dug this out and have been giving it a few turns lately. Really enjoyable, especially "Opera"
Nadja - Skin Turns To Light
I can also recommend Truth Becomes Death. Love this band. They just put out way too much all the time - I can't keep up!

Keep the good stuff and sell me the guff !-). Lemme do some allmusic reading and I'll let you know. Could do an exchange at the moorings next weekend.

I could have done a deal with you for a few Alice Coltrane CD's I'm getting rid of. Did you ever buy 'Journey in Satchidananda'? That's her best one I've heard.
I haven't heard that one! Really enjoying Eternity so far. Do you still have "Journey"? Would be tempted must admit.

Looking for somewhere a little more remote...

Hey Y'all,
Does anyone know any good 'not in the book' camping spots? We're looking for somewhere not a million miles from the Deen but not a camping site. Camped up near the Linn of Dee a couple years back and had a blast.
Any suggestions or recommendations are welcome!

I absolutely loved "The Lives of Others" - utterly compelling movie. Incredibly well told story with excellent pace to the action.
I watched "King of Kong" based on all the recommends from here. What a frickin' ace movie! I honestly could not believe how good it was. I started watching "Wrath of Khan" after but fell asleep half way through. Still loved it but just didn't have the stamina...

It's a nice venue for a social/club night. Been once for that sort of thing and really enjoyed it. Kartta played there on a Sunday night with a turnout of people which included...well, the other bands that were playing (think we've all been there). The sound wasn't great. It's a really reflective room. The plus sides are a really helpful engineer, and a plain floor plan setup. If you got some bodies in there, I'm sure you'd have an ace gig. The weird concave mirror thing is awesome.

My girlfriend talks in her sleep a fair bit. My favourite one was when I came home late from work and she was already asleep. Just as I lay my head down to pass out, she sits up in bed and hysterically blurts out "Lettuce! What happened to all the lettuce!?!?". Lays down again and starts snoring. Doesn't remember a jot in the morn.
