Have a look at the Dr Drakes forum, read the contact details and send a demo to Sharon & crew. They will get back to you no doubt to arrange a suitable date, if they have one.
Dr Drakes is probably the best way to start gigging in Aberdeen. It's safe, clean, friendly and it comes with a 16 day money back guarantee.

Sounds like the name of a gay porno film to me.

Well, it hasn't come yet. I ordered it last Saturday morning. That's 5 working days. I checked the order status on the website and it said "Allocating Stock" or something, so maybe they don't even have them in stock!! Arseholes. Mind you, it did say 2-7 working days for delivery on the site.

Hmmm, just took a wonder to the iDefense website, must take a look at the whitepapers on the JDK exploits, considering it's the foundation of the software I write at work! Unix security was always something I was interested in around 95/96 when I was cruising BBSs before the internet was so widely available. It's basically what got me into Linux.
I got Reason to learn how to use the MIDI stuff first. The plan is to write my own software with Linux/ALSA to do some interesting stuff with controllers for live use.

Well a song called unix intrusionist is always going to have kudos with a linux nerd like me... but it's quite a cool track anyway. i like the bass line and the flangey synths at the start / continuing through. if you hadn't mentioned the minimalistic aspect i would have noted the linear nature and/or focus on one sound at a time that the song builds with, but from about 2:30 that seems to improve anyway.
the other song isn't my cup of tea, correct. however, it has some nice sounds and has some great intensity around the 2:30 mark. great sound.
can I ask what sort of software / hardware you are using to make some of this? My music has traditionally taken a guitar rock style of recording, however i've recently bought a midi controller and have a copy of reason to play about with, so it's an area i'm going to be exploring in the coming months.

is my latest track...kinda ruff i knocked it up in one night and kinda of half assed mastered it the next day - u will get the idea tho. What sort of rate do you guys make tunes at? I'm doing 2 or 3 a month at the moment. I'd like to see some technical minded reviews going on, production quality etc...is there anyone doing stuff that doesnt involve guitars?
Stripey
I'm lucky if I write a song every 2-3 months.
Listening to your song, I feel like it's missing some high end. Even the high end pitch-shifted vocals don't seem to add what I'm looking for. I can't quite place it. Perhaps it's because the bass sound is so low.
The drums seem very high in the mix to me, and their lo-fi sound would suit being quiter in my opinion, as they take away focus from the layering and dynamic you create with the synth sounds / vocals / bubbly bell noises. However, who knows, it's hard to know what it would sound like if you did turn the mix of the drums down, without playing about with it.
Overall, I find the pace of the song a bit slow. Or maybe it just doesn't change fast enough for me. However, I really like the part about 58 seconds in, where it changes. Could maybe do with adding a few more random atmospheric noises as one-offs, either on their own or layered on top of some of the other samples you re-use throughout the song.
Listening to the song it reminds me of Portishead, Blue Lines era Massive Attack, The Prodigy Experience era Prodigy, Tricky, etc.
Have you any other stuff online?

Does "extremely shit" count as a form of extremity?

Sweet jesus. I hope they stay in the studio. I can't quite work out if they were an acquired taste, not my cup of tea, or just absolutely fucking shite.
-
well i eventually went for one from www.piedog.com. it was 54 quid including delivery and VAT. i check out the GAK site, and although they were charging 50 quid for the interface, they wanted to charge me 10 quid for delivery, which i think is shit. delivery and courier services are a commodity, thievin' bastards.
anyway, i'll post here in a week if piedog are a bunch of dodgers that i shouldn't have bothered with.

Cheers min. I can get one online for about 55 including delivery, I was just thinking if one of those shops had it, I could satisfy that "want it now" urge I have. I shall check out turnkey though.

Does anyone know if Bruce Miller's or R&B sell these? Any idea how much for?

Me, take sides? With my reputation? Well, I was very, very dr...
Breeze was no joke. If I was going to make a really bad joke, I would make sure it was at least one iota less bad than yours.

'at all times there has been a tendency to use the plural with two or more singular objects when their mutual exclusion is not emphasised' (OED)
Hmm, interesting. Where is this OED you talk about? Is it a website, or a copy you just happen to have handily next to your computer?
So would that mean by emphasising the mutual exclusion, the following would be incorrect:
"Either the EE or the P&J are always good for a look pre-christmas"
??
I think both sound odd now. Perhaps I should have just simplified it to "Check scot-ads".

What a cop out, if you were a proper spellchecker you would have pointed out that you were technically correct. That means we've got you twice now.
Naturally, I was only testing you.
"EE or P&J is always good for a look pre-christmas"

I find that hard to believe, Italian verbs end in -are (the most common) -ire or -ere, very few do not end in those three.
You do have words like tradurre etc. but most are hangovers from old latin (all highly irregular and a bitch to learn cos there's about 76 different conjugations) and there's not a lot.
My girlfriend's Italian by the way, I will enquire.
I've just realised, we're both wrong. An H can't be before an A or U. It's only function in Italian is to make a C or G hard before an I or E (except in the written language where it's used to differentiate between words like 'ho' 'I have' and 'o' 'or')
Stick that in your spellchecking pipe!
Bollocks. I must be needing more oil or something. Or batteries. I was simply going by the likes of http://www.ryanfraser.com/lessons/start/embouchure.html . I haven't a clue about Italian, other than "parla Inglesi?'. Consider my pipe properly stuck.

The thing about chops coming from woodwind players I never knew before but it makes sense (I'll smack you in the chops e.g.). It's got some fancy name like embouchare (which also makes sense if you know a bit of Italian).
1. embouchure
I even do Italian.

You could try ebay. There's lots to be had for good prices, as long as you have a friend to guide you through the rubbish. EE or P&J is always good for a look pre-christmas, and most people will take a beating on price.
-
It may annoy some people, but really, it's humour. A dark, subtle, unintelligible kind of humour, but that is the point nonetheless. You wouldn't be my number one fan otherwise.
