  1. No Chilli, we have decided to strike out alone. We feel passionately that people shouldn't have to pay a premium for the easiness of buying tickets online. Not many others seem to share that ethos, so we had to create our own system. It has taken a while to develop but it is flexible - so we will even be able to offer specials that tie in with our emailouts... so it may sometimes even be cheaper to buy online! Cheers David ps - not excited about The Darkness tribute band?
  2. Our new website is up and running... www.lemontree.org There are still lots of things to do (FREE online booking coming next week for example) - but a quantum leap from what we had. Thanks to the people at IFB for doing it for us. Feel free to offer feedback. Cheers David
  3. Making Music Work an introduction to the music industry Making Music Work an introduction to the music industry is an established and successful short course from City University London. The course is directed at aspiring musicians, promoters, managers, technicians, and those wishing to work within the sector. In partnership with The Lemon Tree, it is intended to deliver the course in Aberdeen to 20 young people over two weekends (Saturday 17th/Sunday 18th April and Saturday 22nd/Sunday 23rd May) with a study gap in between. There will be a course Tutor and up to 8 guest speakers who are leading figures in the music industry. If you are interested in getting more information on the course content and in taking part, contact Claire@lemontree.org or PM me and we'll email you out an application pack. There will be an informal interview for potential applicants. Making Music Work and the Development bursaries have been funded by Scottish Enterprise Grampian (logo) as part of its ongoing contribution to music business development in the North-east. Thanks to their support, all 20 places on the course will be available free of charge...
  4. Why not come along to The Lemon Tree on Friday to see it taken apart, and then put back together again - marginally differently, and a million times funnier. We welcome 'The Byronic Lord of Pop' and 2003 Perrior Best Newcomer Award Winner - Gary LeStrange Doors are 9pm I Onstage 10pm Tickets - 9 (6 concessions and Regulars) Here's a recent review from The Independent (the real one, not the Aberdeen freebie - just to show it's not just my own hyperbole...) "Sometimes, fiction really is as strange as life. Gary Le Strange might be as self-invented as any of the Ants and Numans who once clogged up the charts, in an age when the future promised better than porno on a computer screen and shoot-'em-up games. But having interviewed the bemused post-fame Adam Ant, and been present at Gary Numan's 40th birthday party (in the lobby of a Milton Keynes hotel), I can vouch for the eerie authenticity of Waen Shepherd's creation. Poor Gary, his backstory borrowed from those preened Eighties horrors who now spell nostalgia for many, might be reduced to playing the Fringe, but his dreams of stardom survive. Writer of the new New Romantic panto Prince Charles, and the man who asked, "Is My Toaster Sentient?", Gary's set summons up Jarvis Cocker's complaint that those who grew up in that benighted decade deserve a refund. This lovingly written, authentically inauthentic show hardly puts a foot wrong, save the one in Gary's mouth. "I'm Japanese," he sings in gloomy cockney. "I eat raw fish and I'm allergic to cheese." I laughed a lot."
  5. I thought The Fall were in fine form... What with The Fall and Morrissey both being depressing - it's almost like it is a new word for you. Don't wear it out...
  6. think that guy was their manager - perhaps it is in his contract: 10% and a few minutes in the spotlight... His appearance made for an interesting, and weirdly funny end to proceedings. Like old relatives dancing at weddings... Not a bad voice though
  7. Dubious at first about the Michael Jackson one glove look... But soon to his arrogant Alex Higginsesque best. Given the strength of the most recent album, great time to catch them live!
  8. Suns of Arca may or may not be the additional act this evening - if they do come they'll be doing a short set before JJC. Sorry for being terribly vague... but I do it so well! Tickets will be available on the door (from 9pm) priced 15 or 10 for concessions. Judging by reviews, The Fall are in fine fettle - www.thestereoeffect.com/onstage/display_live.php?LiveId=200 http://newdev.playlouder.com/feature/+thefall/?key=2248d2-2079a0 Cheers David
  9. Ex-Monty Python mainstay Terry Jones will be at The Lemon Tree tomorrow (Tuesday 10th February) to talk about his TV series (Medieval Lives, begins tonight on BBC2 - 8pm) and book. He'll be onstage at 1pm, and tickets costing 2 are available from Ottakars (whose gig it is...) or on the door. The Lemon Tree Box Office - 01224 642230
