  1. I'm cool with all that ...... but....... 25K....kinell!!
  2. 25k????????????? you are kidding! That would be fine for the Music Hall...... Can you imagine the insurance claim if the punters got an accidental millisecond of full power.... hearing aid anyone? G...
  3. The custom does have a maple cap.....!
  4. A Dickie's boiler suit covered in goat excrement and some wellington boots for me I think...
  5. Love 335's ...... hate that thing ...... what the fuck is the point of a 335 with no neck pickup and no tone control? Wierd!!
  6. I would not advise that method...... weight distribution should be as even as possible throughout the load area of the van.....if anything, the heaviest items should be over the rear axle....but since the likelyhood of you coming anywhere near the load limit of the van is slim I wouldnt worry about that too much.
  7. Get someone who you know is a good driver and not a piss head to do all the driving....but remember to not piss him off when you are pissed and buzzing after a gig...give him a bit of respect and time to rest when he gets the chance. Take the minimum amount of equipment....there are lots of reasons for that....space in the van is important when you are in Milton Keynes and cant afford a hotel....three Marshall stacks look fucking totally rock and roll but when you don't have a road crew you will get really hacked off lugging it up four flights of stairs every night, it all weighs a ton as well and hauling it around will cost you more in fuel. Take gallons of deoderant....the opportunities to wash are few and far between so after about three days you start to stink like a buffalo. Make sure someone has a credit card.... Don't chat up the birds in pubs....especially in the northeast of england or darkest wales....they will always be someones girlfriend and the boyfriend will be the size of a buffalo. Take plenty of merch with you...selling a couple of cd's and a teeshirt will pay for your next meal. Check the vans oil, water and tyre pressures every day.....one day you will be glad you did, and waiting four hours to be towed off the M6 at 4 in the morning in February is not funny....trust me on that one. traveling in the back of a van at this time of year is not for the feint hearted.....remember the vans heater is designed to keep the front occupants warm only.... Don't start a fight with the promoter....remember the bouncers will be on his side and he's bound to have a gun. Remember and play to impress....even if there is not a living soul there...if you play well they will have you back. Booking gigs......the best of luck with that one... G...
  8. To be perfectly honest valve filements are not that fragile...10 seconds after the amp is powered down its safe to shift it...its just when they are white hot that its a problem....and the abuse they get on stage is far worse than a wee bump...
  9. I no longer dress in womens cloths.... I now find total nudity far more rewarding. spotty faced guitar geeks should be forced to leave their amps off stage with a long cab lead...this would eliminate any problems with moving amps and turning up during the set..... G...
  10. Hey.....you stick to what you know best.....trannies!!!!:O
  11. A few tips... Always transport the amp upright if possible... Try not to bump it about too much... Let the valves warm up for a few minutes before making them work... If you transport it to a gig in cold and/or wet weather let it stand in the venue for a at least 20 minutes before powering it up. Ensure that the fuses fitted are rated correctly and are slow or quick blow where required (this is very important) Use the standby switch correctly at all times...let it warm up before switching standby on....and let it cool down before switching mains off. If the amp starts to blow output fuses it's a fair bet it needs valves...remember to replace the fuse with the correct one. Treat it with respect and care and it wil give you good service. Thats all I can think of at the moment. G...
  12. No point in making a 4way cos you would have to fit 13amp plugs to the yank amps..... Better if they had a yank 4way or 2.....dont ya think? G...
  13. No...dont buy anything .... most tool rental companies will hire you one really cheap. And if they are using american made gear bought for the american market they wont have 110/240 switches...they will run on 110 only. G...
  14. *looks in booth directions and nods in agreement* Dont draw me on that subject.....I wanna go to AMERICA!!!! G...
  15. I find that very hard to believe when you cant even spell it....
  16. That was a superb guitar....made by Ibanez if i remember right.... Have you heard The cross and the crucible?
  17. Well ok and I cant argue that your neckthrus sustain more than your bolt ons.....but why is that so important? Hands up all those bass players who put sustain at the top of their shopping list when buying a guitar........ If sustain is what you like and your guitars give you that, thats fine, and i'm really pleased for you, but I just dont think its that important so I dont think that it makes a neckthru any better..... Its all very personal and there is little point in argueing about it..... If I like the feel sound and look of a bass thats me sold.....I could care less if the neck is blue tacked on.....if it works....i'll play it.
  18. The synth creates the sound he requires and he supplies the feeling....you would need to hear Pallas to get the idea...
  19. I'd be only to happy to cast an eye over it... G...
  20. Heres an interesting point.....Niall Mathewson who owns The Mill and plays guitar for Pallas plays Squire strats, ok so his main guitar and main spare ar JV series ones which are quality guitars made in Japan but he does have a couple of newer ones. The guitars have little or no bearing on his sound as he uses a roland guitar synth......
  21. As I said before all very subjective.....I have neither seen or heard any evidence of your above statement....and if it were true is greater sustain the holy grail for bass players in general....i doubt it, and your claim of a fuller softer sound fall a bit flat when you think of the very first neck through bass....the Rickenbacker....the 4001 being chosen by many bass players for its attack and lead instrument qualities. Please don't get me wrong....I love many bass guitars that are set/through neck design but I would never discount or pass over a guitar just because it had a bolt on neck....they all have their place and their merits and drawbacks. Oh and I don't use effects either.
  22. Its all very subjective.....I have owned and played both....I can see the advantages of no heel for some bass players but for mere mortals like me who live our lives at the lower reaches of the bass neck it makes little or no odds. As for strength, fender have been building bolt ons for thousands of years....I have never seen strength to be an issue with them....in fact, god forbid, but if I owned a bass that got damaged in the neck dept. I would think a bolt on would be a blessing. As for radical double cuts....again thats great for the more adventurous/talented among us.
  23. There is no setting up involved in a bigsby trem unit....and they are only designed for gentle trem action, anything more vigerous will cause the guitar to go out of tune, if the guitar has been well used in the past the machine heads could be worn and be causing tuning stability problems. Very careful attention should be given to the bridge string saddles on any gibson with a trem as any friction will cause the guitar to go out of tune every time you touch the bigsby. Is the bigsby moving freely when the guitar has no strings on.....? if its been living in its case in a less than perfect environment then it may have partially seized Is the neck warped that it needs the truss adjusted?
  24. Are you saying a neckthrough is in some way better than a bolt on, or that they are just more expensive to make, neither statement is factual!
  25. Is the guitar that bad? by restoring/re-finishing the guitar you loose lots of its value.... I could set it up for you...does it need a re-fret? G...
