  1. Hold on, the kid might just have a point. If I was playing a charity gig, I'd expect 100% of the door takings (after fair expenses have been paid - such as paying for a drink for the bands and paying for the venue...poster costs/etc should be covered by the promoter as their contribution to charity) to go to the charity at hand. If the promoter was taking any sort of cut from the gig, it would only be fair to give the bands a small payment too, no?

Just got my account sorted on here lets get this straight now people.

I wish I could quote everyone on here.. This thread was started for one purpose and we got a varied and confused reply.. however bands have contacted us (thank you).

The cause - a girl (10) drowned in the past May. Trapped under a rock. The money going to mountain rescue who tired to save her and also to build a playground. Her mother who is of a young age shall be attending the event.

Cloud - I'm sorry but as a NON-PROFITABLE promotions company JBC takes no earnings what so ever for themselves. Do to the cause the posters are going to cost nothing and thus ALL PROCEDES GO TO THE CHARITY!

Every yob (the swearing ones) - This is a public forum and if I was a parent reading a young childs intrests and pow the word c*** pops up I think we've just lost another musician to be (or their resorces atleast).

As for the rest (Camie etc) - THANK YOU for the support. Sorry about my typos.

  2. hello,

heres the story. me and my bassist friend are now 18, we have been playing together since we were 14, writing songs together and practicing together.

me and share some singing.. me usually on lead..

we used to play in a band together also.

we write our own material and are hoping to recruit a new drummer where its all about the music.. our influences vary..

we play a range of music ranging from punk/rock/funk

basically blink with a flea (chillis) and idlewild type kick.. if interested email me and we can arrange some sort of Jam..

    thanks

    Aaron

  3. i thought it was a really good night

bands were no worse than many 'established' bands iv heard going around anyway.

*here here* to that then :)

Chris I think you hit every point on the head within one post. Also like to mention that bands that play are encouraged to have one set list ready of not 2 of there own songs. YES NO COVERS. However this isn't always the case and some do end up playing cover songs for whatever reasons.

  4. i didnt make the effort because they are shit. did you go? were they shit?

Right as I pointed out before to the asses who said the shows were "shit". Let people go and find out for themselves.

Reject monkey you are one of these asses who couldn't be bothered coming to the show that didn't just have the one band Replay on but had an array of 4 bands. Which in my opinion the majority were worth seeing. However people at the show may disagree. Reject monkey as you were not at the show, you really have no right to comment. Your opinion on wether or not you be assed because of one band is retarded. Go to sleep and don't wake, please. 2..

  5. I am getting pretty bored of paying good money to hear amateur pish played badly' date='[/quote']

Good money? I rekon £2 is hardly going to break your bank. That is beside the point and thank you cloud, Foyerlive is suppose to be a learning experience of debuting bands with the aid of an "experienced" band (such as past performers; Hookers Green #1, Maple, Nero, The Madisons, Onion Terror, 10easy and many more to come ;))

As Mathew pointed out, the fact that Tempest are playing is "ace" just shows that Foyerlive shows can and will be a groovy night.

As for playing in bands at Foyerlive shows, the experience the bands get from the whole thing, is extremely benificial from a musicians point of veiw and from the point of veiw from the guys who run the shows (such as myself and others). Which is one of the many reasons why Drummonds are continously allowing Foyerlive shows to happen there.

If you don't like the shows fair enough, there is no need to rip the piss on such forums. Let people make there own mind up about Foyerlive shows.

  6. Latest news: The next Foyerlive show is on Friday 31st March at Cafe Drummonds in Aberdeen's Belmont Street.

    The bands playing will be:

    The Hatchet Men

    Replayed

    Which Way Now

    Tempest.

It will be just 2 to get in as usual and open to anyone over 14 years old. Cafe Drummonds staff will be searching everyone at the door to stop youngsters smuggling in drinks, You have been warned! Hope you will ALL make it down and a great night will be had by ALL. By the way, we are now looking for bands to play the next show!
