Anyway, yeah - I don't think I've done anything like that to majorly piss off ma and pa smith.

His not blue and his westlife?
What are you talking about?
-
Well, it's your left wrist that's broken eh...
Well, I can think of one reasonable pass-time
I'll allow you to take a guess at what it is.
Oh, and hope your wrist heals quickly too, it must suck not being able to play.

I'm by no means a good guitarist, I get by...I think. But I definitley want to learn so I can apply diffrent sounds and textures to what I do. To get back on topic, If I had the time and money for lessons, I'd like to smooth out some of my technique a little and learn without the temptation to just mess around, as self teaching can become. I totally agree that you can go TOO far though. When I attempt to write, I want to write something I could hum or I'd that'd hook me easily. I think that's more important than being able to shred lightning fast or whatever, although I'd like to be able to do that myself and try and implement it in stuff I do, just so that option is open to me and so I could use it if necessary.
But the lightning shredders may get hooked easily on more lightning shred.
Maybe they want something they can rock out to, I don't know
It works both ways I guess.

Yeah, I think it depends more on how well your teacher can teach you as opposed to just getting lessons.
I think both are acceptable, but yeah - it's easier to get your hands on stuff if you have lessons
-
wow, that's a fair hefty amount of playing!
-
Do what I do and buy a pedal and then use it.
No tweakings here, I leave all of that to the expertos.
I don't excel at physics...

Haha, I have some fret wear on my pacifica, nothing near what you've got on your squier though

Haha, Adam beats his women and pimps them on the streets*

I'm sure I remember someone (Tav?) saying something about watts not having anything to do with how loud your amp can go, is that true?
Can anyone explain to me how it's all measured?

All this happened in 1986.
Hahaha, where were the wires hanging out?

I agree Ben. These threads could so have easily turned into a trademark Aberdeen band Forum war with shitty comments made at each other... like "Yeah at least we aren't pig fuckers like your band!" and all that sorta shit.
Haha, I had a good hearty chuckle - I think you should write that insult down, it's quite good.

Hmmmm, considering I don't know a damn thing about electronics, joining stuff together or anything like that this kind of project just isn't for me - however, I admire anyone willing to put this kind of commitment into building their own instrument. Imagine how cool it will be to be able to say to people "I built my guitar"
Good luck man!

I tried .6
it sucks.
go with the 1 mm - they're of superior quality I tells ya!
-
Yeah, you're right - the atmosphere wouldn't dry my eyes out and make them hurt a lot.
-
Ahh, ok - got you, would it require re-learning how to play the guitar?
-
Uhhhh, ok..?
Why would one want to play ones guitar 5 semi tones lower?
-
I don't get it, anyway - do you have to re-learn how you play guitar to use a 7 string? What can you do on a 7 string that you can't on a regular ol' 6 string?
-
If I tune it to open E and put a capo on the 5th fret will it be in open A?
-
What the hell is the 7th string for anyway? What's it tuned to? A?
-
7 strings you say?
Then you might want to have a look at an Epiphone Les Paul Classic 7 string, Translucent black.
It looks the part, I dunno how it plays though. You can pick one up in the shops for 460 or go to piedog.com and get it at a much reduced rate of 345 with free delivery.
