  1. ok let me say it again "WORLD CLASS drummer Paul mills is playing with hue and cry on the 20th of October at the lemon tree, if your a drummer and want to see chamber esque fills and tony royster control then get down there, theres only a handful in the UK that can compare to this guy" If you want to be a sheep then go and see Caribou with there TWO drummers, Whats theres names again?.

  2. Personally I think theory is important, But last week I got a lesson that theory is nothing with out creativity and passion, I took a friend who I hadnt seen in a long time to a gig he was doing in Glasgow I think the pub was crottiers or something, he was playing for the Mike dean quintet, and I sat in the crowd and and watched while he put on a performance that was quite simply out of this world, after the gig when we were driving home i asked him "How long did you rehearse with this band to get to that level of tightness and expression" He replyed " I havent rehearsed with them at all, I just played everything off the cuff"

He played passeges that degree players could not even comprehend and got all accents spot on, and he doesnt read charts.

    Pure Class..

  3. Hello again!

We record everything digitally apart from voice and occasionally drums' date=' but once a drummer hears how Roland V-Drums sound on the recording they are hooked !!.

    Cheers

    Nathan[/quote']

I dont know if I agree, the roland td8 sounds pants, yeah the snare has a snare sound but it doesnt sound like a snare, and dynamics on the hats are crap and the whole kit smells cheese.

Ive recorded dozens of tracks on the td8 and td10/ td20, and yeah they'll do to a point, Personally i wouldnt record with one unless i really had to.

Also your not gonna get complete seperation from the td8 because its only got 2 direct outs, even the td10 doesnt have complete seperation

Some engineers i know got lazy and hid behind the td10s to cover up they wernt that great at recording drums and knew next to nothing about mike placement.

But i will admit if i was an engineer and not a drummer id probably be pushing the td8 too, there good time saving tools..

  4. Why dont you open a new thread, graeme can enlighten us with tales of being on the road and camper vans, playing sold out concerts, and we can all sit around the camp fire listening to his words of wisdom, it'll be just like boy scouts.

  5. Oh sorry Mr "Im shit hot, Ive toured the world so why did I end up in the centre of musical exellence called Aberdeen posting with all the other pretend musicians".

I take it back, you dont need to grow up, your not fucking stupid.

  6. Anyone who's got half a brain and is thinking of buying a van, and didnt know what it looked like would do a google search on the make to see if it was right for them.

I never said at any time that it could be used for a full band transporting there gear, I know its no use for that, I've have had a pa, drumkit and and amp in it, which is more than enough for me.

I only posted it on the forum because it might have been some use to people, I also posted it on other forums and the scot ads. If its no use to anyone then dont tell me, im not interested, If I feed my cat milk, I dont want to know if it tastes sour Mr "Ive toured in everything all over the Uk"

  7. I doubt it really matters what kit your on, like was mentioned before the technique is largley the same, Ive spent thousands of hours on both and changing from acoustic to electronic to acoustic again done me no harm at all, In fact Im a better drummer for it....

And I never said archer teaches out of a book, Ive had lessons with him. The stuff I was taught was in the "art of the drummer", I was in the process of doing that book so i went elsewhere and paid 45 p/h for lessons and even when I paid 45 p/h the stuff that was taught to me was in "advanced funk studies" by rick lathem

  8. a chain letter' date=' i get weird ones through msn, like if you dont send this to 50 people you will have erection problems,[/quote']

Holy shite, thats exactly whats happened to me, I got a msg then I started getting erection problems. Ive been walking around with a hard on ever since...

  9. I believe soul-mate is a term used by socially challenged people to provide hope that they might find someone to love. Do I believe in soul mates? Of course not, although i do believe that for a small price and the chance of a passport there are 30 million soul mates living in thailand.

  10. Yeah Japo used to teach me when I was at the TYP many moons ago, he's a really good drummer, and a sound guy.

Archer Kemp is fantastic, but if you've only been playing under 5 years and may not be that good, i doubt paying 20 p/h would be a wise investment, just to learn mozambique rhythms and everything from the Drum-tech sylabus which can be learned by reading "The art of the drummer" and will only cost you 15

Pro-sound have a good setup, but nick teaches elsewhere due to demand. Still really good tho.

  11. Ford courier van for sale, 1.8 deisel, 124000 runs very good and is in exellent condition, used only for private use, and ideal for transporting to gigs and studios.

Recently had new, cylinder head, altenator, starter, 2 tyres, clutch. 124000 miles but running very well...

  12. Tony roysters a fantastic drummer, check out common ground with dennis chambers and 22 by jon reshard, tonys on them both, this guys crazy.

Marco minnemanns also a great drummer and he's a exceptional all round musician too which just makes me more jealous. check out Comfortably homeless for drum chops galore and his latest cd meize which is more mainstream and almost blink 182 at times.
