  1. It's very easy to get into as far as beat 'em ups go. There arent many hard to grasp combo's or inputs to learn, so you should get up and running before long.

I'd advise picking Maxi, Kilik or Mitsu as your starting character, they arent the most powerful in the game but they have very basic combos and you should feel comfortable with any of them before long.

Just dont be put off by the online mode, it really isnt worth playing. And if you spend time trying to get good at it, you'll only be wrecking your offline game.

If you fancy some games and perhaps some heads up advice to learn to play, reply here and hopefully some other n00bs will appear and make a we can make an aberdeen-music night of it all.

  2. Initial thoughts, in pro and con format,

    PRO's

+ The removal of huge buffering windows has (hopefully) removed all the 2G/22G rubbish that made SC2/3 unplayable at high level

+ The tiers seem a lot more compact now, nobody seems god tier yet, and very few seem bottom tier. Seems like a lot of work has gone in to creating a balanced game this time round, thank god it isnt a sc3 rush job.

+ You can no longer GI throws

+ The old clone characters have new movelists, which for the most part, are all viable.

+ Looks great, framerate is solid.

+ Hilde is an awesome addition to the rost, plays nothing like anyone before in SC. (think balrog and the tun around punch)

    CON's

    - Without a doubt the worst netcode of any recent online fighter (besides tekken, which uses identical pathetic netcode)

    - The single player modes are pathetic, and the A.I is still a farce.

    - Practice mode is awful compared to recent fighters, please look at VF5 next time.

    - The slashing of the buffering input window has really hurt soem characters (ivy in particular)

Is anyone here playing this for real? Im sure you have realised that with such a huge amount of input lag, the online mode is waste of your time.

Im currently trying to find some people to hold some offlien games nights. Playing this, perhaps SC2 depending on demand. Plus Super Turbo or whatever anyone else is game for.

Please reply if you fancy some beat 'em up action that isnt 2sec input lag mashfest :)

    EDIT:

I remember having a street fighter 2 thread on this forum some time ago, and if I remember correctly there were a bunch of people claiming they were good. Do you guys still play? Would you be up for some local, offline, friendly games with some booze? Would you like to help to contribute to the non existent aberdeen/scottish beat em up scene? Myself and a few friends of mine have somethign in the works, but some numbers would be great to get things going.

  3. If you follow the series, i'm sure you'll be aware that there have been hundreds of shops breaking next fridays release date and selling the game early.

Just wondering if anyone has spotted it for sale in aberdeen anywhere? Perhaps in ASDA or something, i know they are pretty bad for sticking to dates.

    Cheers

  4. Don't kow about you guys, but i don't find playing beat-em-up's nearly as enjoyable as playing offline. If we get enough people up for it who agree ona game or two to play, we could set up something offline. Perhaps see about playing in cafe-lan or something.

Anyhow, if anyone wants to help me learn VF5 or just own me to feel good about themselves, look me up on gamertag C0rbul0.

Oh and roll on Street fighter 4, im almost as excited about that as i am Soul calibur 4, it's gonna be a nice year for beat em ups.

  5. Hi folks,

Just wondering how many people actively play beat-em-up games, and if so which?

I recall a fair few people yapping about Sf2 last time i used these forums, (over a year ago mind) anyone still big on that?

Hopefully we can gather up a enough people who play the same at a high enough level to perhaps make an evening of it.

Personally i consider myself competitive at SF2 and SC2. I also dabble a bit in Doa4, but i can't say im to keen on it.

On a similar note, anyone itching for the release of SF4 and SC4, gonna be a good year.

  6. Shortages arent as bad as they were first expected to be.

For example we were told to stop taking preorders at toys r us and told we probably would recieve enough to cover them, when in fact we got excess.

If you fancy a mad dash at toys r us on friday morning, there are 10 going...

Needless to say ive had mine reserved for forever, probably going to take home red steel, zelda and play for the banter.

They are sexy machines though, the remote is FAR smaller than i had expected, how ever it feels very comfortable even in my large ET-styled hands. And the neon blue cd-sucker in bitty is just ace.

  7. We NEED to get a sf2 tourney up and running.

Possibly super sf2 since characters moves were altered to introduce a more balanced game (see chun-li's fireball)

But if its oldschool you want im game for that.

I still play this game religiously with friends, on the old emulator though my snes packed in. I think id give anyone here a fair run for there money...

And anyone who claims to be good with any character other than ryu/ken or guile is a fool, they are the only viable characters regardless of the 'balancing'

  8. You should give third strike a chance. At first I wasn't sure about it' date=' but it's a great addition to the series, and easily the best looking street fighter game.[/quote']

best looking, but not the best playing...

Super street fighter 2 is they way to go, balanced bosses and all sorts, its a beast of a game.........

  9. Damn you all to hell' date=' get a Street Fighter Alhpa 3 machine!

...I just want to play as Dan. :([/quote']

Dan? I take it you dont play competitive street fighter then?

Dan was intentionally made a sub par character, he's a parody of the 2 main snk characters, who in turn were just ryu and ken rip off's...

  10. The Hen Hoose...wonderful place!

Anyone ever dared to go in Bar 524 on George Street?

Ive been there a few times, its nice and close to my house, and my friend and his dad are there all the time.

Ive never had any bother in the slightest, and found everyone to be nice and friendly, especially those behind the bar.

All in all, a nice enough place. If in need of a little restoration...

  11. Then look no further for the textbooks you'll need in any or all of these courses, for both semesters.

    Management - Organizational Behaviour

    - Operations Management

Accounts - Cost & Management accounting

    - Financial Accounting

    -Accounting and finance

    Economics - Economics ( J. Sloman)

All the books are only 1 year old, and in totally perfect condition, some of them only been opened a couple of times. They are all also the latest editions.

Available to you for only 25 quid each.

A bargain considering their condition, and the fact they cost between 35 and 50 pounds new....

  12. The Jive Bombers

    King Lewie

    Onion Terror

    Shotgun Blues

    Tempest

I feel your forgetting 'fate of the nation', and of course the pinnacle of punk that was 'My grunnie is shitface.

Well remembered steven, how could i forget my greatest musical achievement, 'Rossco' and the hand jive five'? I think our one and only song, 'music for paul thain to walk to' was brilliant...

  13. I bought it when it came out a few years ago' date=' got pretty hooked. In the end I got bored of it though, back then all that you could really do was mine, it got tiring really quickly.

These days I still spend my every waking minute playing World of Warcraft. I know you both have(had?) that too, how you doing with it?[/quote']

I still play now and again, not as obsessively as i did for the first few months...

Im really enjoying the pace of eve, just learning up some nice skills to get some heavy duty pirate slaying on the go...
