Born in Bhopal, India, to an internationally acclaimed family, *Sarod player Ameen Ali Khan belongs to the seventh generation of great musicians. As the grandson of one of the most renowned South Asian musicians of the previous century, Ustad Hafiz Ali Khan, son of the celebrated Sarod artist Ustad Rehmat Ali Khan, and nephew of award winning Sarod artist Ustaad Amjad Ali Khan, Ameen's playing is known for its aesthetic purity and tradition, reminiscent of his grandfather's genius with the instrument. Ameen will be accompanied by several musicians, including the acclaimed Tabla player, Vijay Kangutkar. Ameen has been brought to Scotland by the Scottish Academy of Asian Arts.

*The Sarod is a short-necked, unfretted lute, which carries 8 main strings and anything from 11 to 15 sympathetic strings.
