meiklejohn
I need to get my jcm 900 head looked at, something's not right, seems really quiet, assuming it's a tube change. Where can I get this done locally? And any idea of a ballpark figure for how much I'm looking at paying for it?Thanks
Steviepearce
Are the settings all correct on the back first. Cos can't the head be run at 50 and 100 watts by selecting the modes at the back. Plus is the impedance setting right to match your cabs, make sure if is so it don't fry either the speakers or output transformer. Check those out. If not bring it this way and I can have a check to see if it's tubes etc as I should have a few kicking around somewhere. Just do a quick process of elimination on it. meiklejohn
I've looked at the back, everything's as it should be, I don't know anything about ohms and I'll admit I've tried every combination! However nothing has changed with me doing this.I tried the "tapping the tubes and listen" technique with no success... Couldn't hear a difference... If your willing to have a look for me that would be great buddy!
Steviepearce
Don't try every combination as that could fuck the head completely if the ohms are wrong. The ohms should match your cabs. I'll take a look that's no problem. If you can get it into Aberdeen that is.
meiklejohn
I can get it to aberdeen mate yeah. Where about in aberdeen? I will need to research the ohms, never know what to do
Steviepearce
I'm based just off king street mate or can drop at music hall most days. It will say on the cab what ohms it is then just match the impedance from the head.
