The Ghost Of Fudge
Saturday 16th November 2013 at The Moorings Bar SKELETON GONG(Glasgow)Skeleton Gong is a bong gonging, cyder abusing, wychfinding four-piece based in Glasgow. A mix of heavy sludge-doom with clean psychedelic intervals and a love for 70's rock, loud guitars, pounding drums, analogue synths and gongs."Each of the four fires stood as the corners of a perfect square aligned precisely to the points of the compass. Within the square a circle had been drawn out... in the dirt around the blood stained altar which held precedence over the scene. Upon the altar lay a young woman, motionless apart from the darting of her eyes. The fires flickered, mysteriously burning low as the crash of the ceremonial gong rang out and the creaking of bones heralded the entrance of the skeleton priest. Purveyors of fleshless fuzz music - loud, heavy, trippy & gonged!"www.facebook.com/skeletongong support from DEATH WATCH - tuned low, and played slowwww.facebook.com/deathwatchdoom Plus! The Ghost Of Fudge
Saturday 30th November 2013 at The Moorings Bar THE JUNE BRIDESThe June Brides are an English indie pop group, formed in London in 1983, by Phil Wilson and Simon Beesley of International Rescue. Influenced by Postcard-label bands such as Josef K and punk-era bands such as Buzzcocks, The Desperate Bicycles and The Television Personalities, their mix of guitar pop with viola and trumpet formed a blueprint for many of the indie pop bands that would follow....After forming in June 1983, they attracted the attention of future Creation Records boss Alan McGee, who gave them several gigs at the now famous 'Living Room', released the mini-album 'There Are Eight Million Stories' (produced by John O'Neill of That Petrol Emotion), and went straight to number one in the UK Indie Chart, staying there for a month. The album remained in the indie chart for 38 weeks. In 1986 they opened for The Smiths on their Irish tour dates, then were asked to contribute to the NME's C86 compilation but declined for fear of being pigeonholed. The band were also honoured in 2006 by a tribute album 'Still Unravished', which featured covers by bands such as Manic Street Preachers, Television Personalities, The Tyde, Jeffrey Lewis and The Jasmine Minks. Dave Eggers and Everett True contributed liner notes for the album. On 23 January 2009, Phil Wilson, Simon Beesley, Jon Hunter and Frank Sweeney reformed The June Brides for a one off show at The Others, Stoke Newington in London. In June 2012, the band reformed and released its first new single in 23 years via Slumberland Records.www.junebridesmusic.com/ With STANLEY Plus! The Ghost Of Fudge
Saturday 14th December at The Moorings Bar. DARTH ELVIS AND THE IMPERIALSDarth Elvis & The Imperials are a Star Wars themed Elvis tribute band from Viva Mos Eisley. In 1977 Elvis didn't die - he turned to the Darkside of the Force and has been playing music venues around the Outer Rim Territory, thrilling audiences with his unique mixture of rock'n'roll, comedy and outlandish performances. And now... the time has come for the Dark King of the Sith & his band of Imperials to return to the Galaxy where he is best known... *cue music*"The Sith Lord, Darth Elvis takes the stage resplendent in white rhinestone jumpsuit, cloak and black leather glove, does some stretches, gets into the feel of it, poses a bit throwing Elvis shapes, and then proceeds to envelope the large and very drunken crowd in the palm of his hand. The part is played to the hilt. Blending the king of rock and roll with the fictional Star Wars bad guy to the extent that you don't know where one ends and the other begins is comedy genius......" - PunkGlobe.com www.facebook.com/pages/Darth-Elvis-The-Imperials/195551207130279 DUKEA three-piece distorted pop/alternative band from Aberdeen. Onstage 9pm.www.facebook.com/dukebandofficialhttp://duketheband.bandcamp.com/ Free entry until 8.45pm, live music 9pm-11pm. Followed by a rotating monthly clubnight 'til 3am.This time round, it's DJ BEARD FURY with his 'RELEASE YOUR KRAKEN' clubnight: the cream of rock, metal, punk, indie, grunge, pop, stoner and cheese from the past forty or fifty years. It could end quite literally anywhere... every night's an adventure!
