Guest Tam o' Shantie
Words: Christian SantanaLabel: Jeffree'sOn "The Sour Drink From the Ocean," Scottish producer Lockah (a.k.a. Tom Banks), the founder of the Aberdeen-based label Tuff Wax, creates a track that would make the likes of similarly minded countrymen, such as Hudson Mohawke, proud. Bright synth chords wash over a Southern rap-style beat, which comes complete with skittering hi-hats and stomping kicks, as well as a gargantuan, speaker-rattling bassline that propels it all forward. This track is the first preview from Lockah's debut EP for Mad Decent sublabel Jeffree's, When U Stop Feeling Like a Weirdo & Become a Threat, which is out on June 14.
