Posted April 8, 2011 Report Share Posted April 8, 2011 In association with Yellow Elevator Promotions, we are delighted to announce that The Lucid Dream will headline a show at Tunnels 2 on Saturday 18th June with support from local acts Vesuvian, The Carousels and His Name Is Codeine.Formed in Carlisle in 2008, The Lucid Dream came to most peoples' attention after their demo track 'I Got The Devil' featured on the excellent 'Open Your Mind' psychedelic compilation on Psilocybin Sounds, alongside the likes of The Brian Jonestown Massacre. Recent support slots to Spectrum (featuring Spacemen 3 founder Pete Kember), Crocodiles and The Aliens have also increased the group's reputation as a live act.The excellent 'In Your Eyes' EP was released in November and is available on iTunes, while the group are currently preparing for the spring single release of 'Love In My Veins'. These guys are definitely worth checking out, particularly for fans of the likes of Spacemen 3, The 13th Floor Elevators, The Cramps and anything else generally regarded as big and psychedelic! They're also fans of Carlisle Utd, who are fresh from their glorious win in The Johnstone's Paint Trophy! They're on a roll!They will be joined by local psych-rockers Vesuvian, complete with their huge Black Angels/Spacemen 3 influenced sound. This slot appears to be the perfect fit for the group as they make their long awaited return to the live circuit after being holed up in the studio recording their upcoming EP. After ploughing a seemingly lone psychedelic furrow on the local circuit in recent years, the lads will no doubt be looking forward to sharing a stage with kindred spaced-out spirits!The Carousels have taken the Byrdsian/Teenage Fanclub ethic on board and have constructed a cracking repertoire of expertly crafted songs bursting with soaring harmonies and melodies. Always worth catching live, the band have recently became a five-piece, adding a new dynamic to their sound. Cosmic Aberdeenshire Music.Last but by no means least are the excellent His Name Is Codeine. Sharing a similar love of the psychedelic/shoegaze sound so expertly showcased by the likes of The Black Ryder and The Black Angels, as well as the punchy, intense beat of The Kills, His Name Is Codeine's dark, brooding, haunting sound promises to make this one of the most exciting bills that the local scene has witnessed for a while.Will be delighted to see you there.
