Friday 15 May 8pm Woodend Barn Banchory

Singer and clarsach player, Maggie MacInnes comes from a long line of Gaelic singers from Barra in the Outer Hebrides and learns most of her Gaelic songs from her mother, the highly acclaimed traditional singer, Flora MacNeil M.B.E.

In 2004 Maggie was voted "Best Gaelic Singer of the Year" in the BBC Scots Trad Music Awards.

She has released four CDs ;- "Eilean Mara", co-produced by singer/songwriter Dougie MacLean, "Spiorad Beatha"("The Spirit of Life"), "Peaceful Ground" and "Oran na Mna"(A Woman's Song) which is original music and song inspired by Gaelic tradition both past and present. The piece was commissioned by Celtic Connections and first performed in 2004.

Maggie is joined by Brian McAlpine on keyboards and accordian and Anna Massie on guitar, mandolin and fiddle. Brian is in great demand as a producer and performer and also plays in Session A9. Anna is one of Scotlands finest multi-instrumentalists and winner of the BBC Radio Scotland Young Musician of the year Award in 2003.
