Guest iamkelly
Is there anyone that can remember what scale degrees are raised/lowered for these 6 authentic modes? I can only remember the locrian mode, which starts on the 7th scale degree, and has a diminished 5th degree.Major-like modes:Ionian (begins on 1st degree)Mixolydian (begins on 5th degree)Lydian (begins on 4th scale degree)Minor-like modes:Dorian (begins on 2nd scale degree)Phrygian (begins on 3rd scale degree)Aeolian (begins on 6th scale degree)

Sounds ace. Then try starting on the 5th degree cos it sounds even better, very spanish sounding. Its called the Phrgyian dominant scale, cos it is exactly the same as the phrygian mode but with a major 4th as opposed to a minor 4th).Hope thats what you were wanting.
