  1. The mixer does make a difference when it comes to quality because obviously the main preamp and channel strip is still from the mixer and the quality makes a huge difference. Plug into a midas and leave the equipment flat will sound better than a cheaper mixer hacked away. You will have to get yourself a graphic eq to get rid of the feedback without killing everything but again depends on the quality of the graphic. You can then just eliminate the problem frequencies e g 1k, 8k etc. You don't want to take out too much on the channel strip or you will just kill the whole sound unless you have a mixer that has sweepable eq. With a good eq the mic position won't matter. Hence extremely loud stage monitors with a mic on top of it with no feedback it's all about taking away the problematic frequencies.

  2. My thinking was, if I could get a nice fender clean, I can get the rest of my sound with my pedal board. As long as it takes pedals well, especially a volume boost.

Why didn't you do that when you had a hot rod deluxe with a real fender clean and not a digital attempt at it?

  3. As fat boy said. They won't take pedals well cos the whole design is based around replacing someone's need for pedals. Plus I have an ep booster which is one of the best sounding pedals there is and it be totally wasted going into a solid state. Most boosts and ods are designed to push the tubes harder.

  4. Personally think you'll regret it Scott. Gone from a tsl cos you wanted to try a fender and sold on probably the most popular gigging amp of all time in a hot rod deluxe. Don't think a modelling amp will be up your street after the tube amps you've had. I had a cube and Roland are known for making pretty good quality fx. I can't say it's fenders strong point. Seems to be lots of them for sale there must be a reason. They are half the price of a hot rod deluxe new. There's a reason.
