  3. This week joining us on shmuFM 99.8fm is singer/rapper Alcee ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Born into a musical background, (Alcees grandfather was a well-known artist in Zimbabwe),he got his first flavour of music when he joined the school choir in primary 6. However it was not until upon moving to the UK in 1999 that he truly took his interest further and got involved in different musical projects. Alcee initially started getting into music through a local community programme (Tillydrone Project) to assist kids after school that were interested in playing instruments, singing, rapping, or learning to compose a beat. It was through this that Alcee found his true passion for making music and he began working on his own materials and writing lyrics. As a producer, singer/rapper, songwriter and composer, Alcee has been musically influenced by the whole movement of R'n'B, hip hop and African blend and when growing up, looked up to artists such as Jayz, Usher and Ladysmith Black Mambaza - he still aspires to be as successful as they are today with their talent, dedication and consistency. Without these examples, he wouldn't have the same passion for what he does today. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Al-Cee | Free Music, Tour Dates, Photos, Videos
  4. This week joining us at shmuFM are Transmanta ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Transmanta started playing around Aberdeen in the summer of 2010 and have very eclectic music tastes which primarily revolve around Rock and Alternative genres such as The Smiths, Pixies, Nirvana and Metallica. Band member Jekyll loves the splintering attitude and mind set of the Metal movement. His Unique Guitar style is ethnic and often traditional in spectrum. The earthy Blue tone of Meggan Stewarts voice is raw, powerful, sleek and moving. Her lyrical style is very honest and often clever and comical. Jonathan Reid with such a passion for the Bass Guitar is always pushing the boundaries of his instrument and experimenting with effects. Finally Susan Stewart, former music student muti-instrumentalist and total music Geek and grunger. The band has upcoming shows including Cafe Drummonds on the 9th, 13th and 28th of March and Moorings Bar on the 18th of March. The Band are joining shmu this week as part of our Band of the Week project. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- TRANSMANTA | Facebook
  5. This week joining us at shmuFM are power rock trio HellHouse. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- HellHouse are an Aberdeen based power rock trio whose original music conveys essences of the blues and psychedelia with progressive time signatures, completing their unique sound with three part vocal harmonies whilst paying homage to the ideal of the classic rock 3-piece. Hell house is the culmination following two years of composition and concept generation by guitarist Ryan Wallace. Ryan met drummer Lewis Fraser whilst playing in a blues cover band. It was clear the impromptu jams had greater potential and thus HellHouse was born. Lewis sound engineering classmate Blair Chisholm was recruited as bassist soon after and an instant synergy of ideas capturing colossal live 3-piece dynamics and interesting time signatures culminated in a full set creation, EP Recording and debut performance with a touring band to a sold out audience within 6 weeks of formation. ShmuFM are delighted to welcome to the Band of the Week project this weeks band HellHouse. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- http://www.hell-house.co.uk/
  6. This week joining us at shmuFM is Solo Artist, Dave Bremner. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dave Bremner is a 55 year old singer song writer who has been playing solo or in bands of different genres in and around the Aberdeen music scene for some time off and on. For over 30 years music and martial arts have been Daves main loves outside his family. Daves musical hero is Marc Bolan and covers a number of his hits and songs from the whole of the album backlog. Having started playing guitar in his teens, guitar playing has always been a keen source of enjoyment. Dave continued to write songs and for his 50th birthday his daughter bought him time in a recording studio near her home in Chester. He kept playing and singing for fun with close friend Bill Cowling, who encouraged Dave to keep on writing and recording. Dave took the brave decision to walk away from a secure senior management position within the industry he had such a good reputation in, to move into one of his dream jobs, but taking up a full time position teaching martial arts for the United Kingdom Sooyang Do Association as a chief instructor. The music at this time had to once again take a back seat to allow the development of this new career path, at an advanced age for job changing. However one of Daves long time contacts within the fire industry played in a Country Rock band and he took over the mantle of main encourager and together they started the Atomic club, a music club to encourage local music acts to display their talents once a month at the Boardwalk at the beach, be that cover versions or original material. Dave has been into the Mill Recording Studio in Banchory, to record songs old and new and hes so happy with the outcome that hes decided to join us this week at shmuFM as our Band of the Week! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dave Bremner | Facebook
  7. This week joining us at shmuFM is Solo Artist, Shaun Taylor. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Shaun Taylor is a 23 year old solo artist from Inverurie and has been writing and composing music since he was 16 years old. Shaun plays the Guitar Keyboards, Piano and Drums but is best describes himself as a singer/songwriter. Shaun has wealth of experience in the Recording Studio as well as a live performer having been part of the support act a year ago for the wonderful Emily Smith, a well known Folk singer/songwriter. Having been brought up in a musical environment has helped Shaun immensely and has been a wonderful grounding for the young singer. The music tradition is a family trait with his late great uncle, well known storyteller/ writer and folksinger Stanley Robertson and family member Jeanie Robertson MBE. Shauns intent is to draw inspiration with hopes of emulating them. shmuFM would like to welcome this week, Shaun Taylor, as part of our Band of the Week Project. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- shaun taylor | Free Music, Tour Dates, Photos, Videos
