I'm toying with the idea of recording with a old tape player with a built in mic I found in my loft. Does this sound like a good idea at all? Im aiming for a lo-fi sound but is this a bit too much?

I used to love waiting for a gig outside moshulu and seeing middle aged bald men sweating with excitement heading into bugsy browns.

The Enemy. was at the music hall the same night aberdeen won a football game and all the singer did between songs was shout aberdeen and wave a scarf about. he wore the scarf for the entire set as well as a leather jacket, he actually thought he was amazing but he played about the same 3 chords for every song and could barely sing. utter shite!

The best ever gig you ever My old bands first and only gig ever in Tunnels for a friends birthday. cracked my guitar neck hitting the singer in the head and had an all around blast on stage!

The worst ever gig you ever played When I was still at school we played a gig in a community hall or something and at the last minute the singer pulled out and i had to step up and fill the role. I can't sing, didn't know the words and had never played guitar and sung at the same time before. I knew it was terrible but people kept saying it wasn't. I could see the pity in their eyes!

the start is a point I stick on quite alot. I often have a great idea, chord progression and that, but the sheer motivation required to get going just puts me off. I can never seem to sit down with the intention to write either. I usually wake up late at night with an idea screaming at me. The middle and the end come easy but getting the ball rolling is a killer sometimes!

yeah I set up a page last night and it was really straight forward. Im yet to upload stuff but the uploader looks easy enough to use.

meh im not too fussed about that. What I meant was I don't have any recording costs to cover i.e studio hire etc. It was recorded in my spare time, on my laptop and using free editing software so I'd feel bad charging for it. Plus I'd be happy for it just to be out there and be heard.

also I would consider both but I really can't be bothered with multiple logins and passwords when I can do it all from one site.

I must admit bandcamp is sounding like the better option for me. I never realised people used it to find music. I've always used spotify for that. Is it easy enough to set up a profile and that?

I wasn't planning on selling it really, it didn't cost me anything to make so i'd feel hard necked charging for it. I quite like the idea of people being able to download it so I reckon ill go for bandcamp.

I've recently put together a wee album and im wondering where would be best to upload it to so it can gain the maximum exposure possible. I'd not really given it too much thought till I noticed the growing number of sites offering free mp3 hosting and thought the best plan was to ask around before choosing!
